This critical team is responsible for managing enterprise risks through the customer lifecycle and across all our global products. We develop industry-first data capabilities, build profitable decision-making frameworks, create machine learning-powered predictive models, and improve customer servicing strategies. This team has delivered industryleading results year after year while enabling profitable growth and delivering a best-in-class customer experience. The CFRC Product Owner Team is responsible for owning the fraud and risk aspects of new product launches and updates to current offerings. To accomplish this, the CFRC Product Owner Team partners with Global Risk Technologies as well as the Product Teams, Strategy partners and Enterprise Architects (Data/Enterprise/Technical).

This role works with managers and directors to design solutions and strategies using predictive models and strategies for American Express Card and Non-Card products. Collaborates with partners on other Risk teams, Marketing, Finance, Global Servicing Network, Legal/Compliance, Banking, and Technologies to create world-class analytical capabilities and solutions to minimize credit and fraud risk and improve customer experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • As a Product Owner, translate needs of business owners/stakeholders and deliver on the Product roadmap
  • Collaborate with cross-functional partners across to brainstorm innovative solutions and delivery methods, gather requirements and benefits and drive a common future vision
  • Lead the product functional design and technical design based on an intimate knowledge of the customer and technology
  • Define the data flow across systems along with integration patterns • Develop and maintain conceptual and logical data models for internal system and APIs
  • Identify opportunities and driving software product strategy, roadmap, and features
  • Lead the business features and grooming software product/capability features and stories
  • Write stories for scrum teams, perform all scrum ceremonies with scrum team
  • Agile mindset and transformation champion
  • Prioritize engineering work and balancing the requirements of customers and stakeholders
  • Evangelize the product both internally and externally and shepherding products through the development process, advocating to achieve the best outcomes
  • Interact with product managers and engineers to identify needs, opportunities, and gaps, and solve problems
  • Brainstorm and negotiate effectively with various stakeholders to continuously define feature priority
  • Partner with other functional teams across the Risk and Non-Risk groups to use standard methodologies and ensure a positive customer experience throughout the customer journey
  • Deliver projects that result in functional change to a business products/services that deliver significant change to multiple applications
  • Accountable to team for completing work you’re leading and deliverables as agreed upon
  • Accountable to team for delivery of quality work

Education and Experience

 

Advanced degree is preferred but not required given a suitable combination of formal education and experience; CS degree related technical field is ideal

3+ years of experience in product delivery

Agile experience is a must

 

Minimum qualifications

 

  • Ability to solve complex problems by breaking down to manageable phases
  • Understanding of Scaled Agile (SAFe) principles and experience effectively managing a backlog of competing initiatives is preferred
  • Good blend of analytical skills, technical knowledge, process expertise, project management and relationshipbuilding skills
  • A curious mind providing thought leadership and innovative digital solutions
  • Credit-Management experience and understanding of credit lifecycle is preferred
  • Ability to think strategically and communicate with the ability to engage, influence and inspire to drive collaboration to make things happen
  • Ability to build strong relationships in a cross-functional environment across the customer journey
  • Independent self-starter that thrives in unambiguous, constantly changing, high pressure environments
  • Clear, effective written and oral communication skills
