The BMS Global Drug Development Academy offers a rich and rewarding experience that will provide a robust and comprehensive training, based on a wide-ranging and inclusive curriculum and individualized mentoring for participants interested in pursuing a career as leaders in the pharmaceutical industry.  The GDD Academy provides for a broad exposure, as well as an understanding and appreciation of the responsibilities of and available opportunities for individuals pursuing a leadership career in the pharmaceutical industry, more specifically in drug development. 

This program is targeted towards traditionally underrepresented cultural groups, including but not limited to African American, Asian, Latino/Hispanic, Native American, or Pacific Islander descent.

Position Summary

Our 24-month program provides each candidate exposure to one of our 3 main functional groups: Clinical Development, Regulatory and Safety. Upon completion, each candidate will gain valuable drug development experience, contribute meaningfully to on-going development projects and teams through challenging assignments, learning opportunities, networking with executives and other employees across the company.  A sample of potentially relevant rotation experiences may include contributing to the selection of new indications, working on clinical development and regulatory strategies, clinical trial design and execution and interactions with health authorities.

Participants will have executive mentors, learning and networking sessions to accelerate their personal and professional development and help prepare them for senior leadership roles in the company.

Upon successful completion of the program, participants will continue their BMS career within the Global Drug Development organization and will be able to explore available opportunities in the organization.

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • MD, PhD, PharmD, or equivalent advanced degree of relevance

  • 3 to 5+ years of relevant of experience in the drug development process and leadership experience in academic or industry setting including education where applicable

  • Expertise in the early and/or late development space, matrix team leadership, relevant regulatory perspective, and overall drug development principles

  • Strong leadership skills/potential with proven ability to lead and work effectively in a team environment

  • Ability to assimilate clinical and scientific information and present it in a concise manner

  • Ability to think creatively and excellent problem-solving skills
