The Role: Junior Sales Representative – Capital Markets Segment support (S&P Global Market Intelligence)

The Location: Tokyo, Japan

The Team: The S&P Global Market Intelligence Commercial team in Tokyo is made up of experienced finance professionals including those with background in equity research, investment banking, commercial lending, investment management and data solution sales and the new business sales team is looking for someone to join the team to help support their sales efforts specifically in the Capital Markets territory which includes investment management, investment banking and PE/VC segments. S&P Global Market Intelligence is currently searching for a sales associate to join our new business sales team in Tokyo. Working closely with more senior members of the sales team, the sales associate will be responsible for providing support to the sales team and will focus on supporting efforts to close new deals and expand our footprint into the fast growing investment management, investment banking and PE/VC segments.

Responsibilities:

  • As a junior member of the new business sales team, work with senior sales reps and support them in generating new revenue from white space and from existing clients in the IM, IB and PE/VC space with the goal of meeting the assigned sales targets for these segments (the sales associate will not be carrying his/her own sales target)
  • Manage product demonstration and presentations, set up trials, follow-up training sessions for new prospects/opportunities, etc
  • Utilize CRM system (Salesforce.com) to monitor new sales pipelines and leads status for goal management as well as keep the details of sales activities, meeting memos in the system
  • Generate new contract documents, process sales orders and coordinate new deal process with product management, Legal, and Finance team
  • Help senior sales with lead generation including cold calls and territory planning and analysis
  • Develop product and segment knowledge specific to the assigned territories (investment management, investment banking, PE/VC)
  • Engage with clients and prospects proactively to maximize revenue generation

What We’re Looking For:

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • A keen interest in the financial markets and/or at least 2 years plus direct experience working in the financial industry in a client facing or analytical role (investment banking, equity research, commercial lending, money management, credit analysis or financial consulting preferred), or information services industry (same industry as S&P Global Market Intelligence)
  • Fluent in Japanese and Business level of oral and written English skill
  • Ability to communicate with clients in a clear manner with strong presentation skills
  • Ability to multi task and be flexible
  • Always be prioritizing activity that will best meet client and revenue goals
  • Strong desire to explore the opportunities and expand the business

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Established relationship building and time management skills
  • An interest in the investment management business and/or into IT solutions
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team-based environment
  • MBA, CFA or CMA candidates are welcome
  • Corporate Finance knowledge a plus
  • Experience living outside of Japan or having worked with clients or colleagues from diverse backgrounds 
  • Experience having used other data vendor services such as Capital IQ, SNL, Factset, Bloomberg, Thomson Reuters, Uzabase, Moody’s, etc would be a plus
