VISUAL DESIGNER/PRODUCTION ARTIST

Employment: Full Time Experience: Mid-Level

We are currently looking for aVisual Designer/Production Artistto joinThalesinIrvine, California.This individual will be working closely with developers, customer liaisons, Scrum Masters, and Product Owners in a fast-paced Agile (scrum-ban) environment needing to design and produce comprehensive layouts and sliced assets according to airline technical specifications. This individual will also drive assigned tasks through each stage of production: concept, wireframe, prototype, implementation, and refinement through to final sign-off

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensures accurate, consistent, and timely completion of design comps and sliced assets, effectively using company standard software and tools (e.g. Sketch, Zeplin, Adobe CC Photoshop).
  • An appreciation for the iterative nature of the design process
  • Able to quickly come up with new visual treatments as well as adapting to established styles
  • Up to date on latest design trends and styles
  • Completes assigned tasks within the overall workflow, process, and sprint capacity story points, according to:
  • Work order specifications (user story acceptance criteria)
  • Airline branding guidelines and standards
  • Ensures project (scrum) team has most current information about the status of the assigned project(s) by logging and maintaining in project tracking system (e.g. JIRA, Version One) accurate records of:
  • Project plan (sub-project or task) information
  • Time dedicated to specific project(s)
  • Quality issues
  • Meets quality standards at all times for all assigned deliverables and makes recommendations to Management for improvements with processes and/or tools
  • Assist front-end engineers and UI developers with implementation to ensure final product reflects design vision
  • Foster a collaborative working environment between artists, designers, and engineers
  • Is an effective team member by listening and valuing the opinions of others; supports the team by pitching in at any level and effectively working across the organization to meet the needs of the business.
  • Embraces change; maintains an open mind and is flexible and adaptable in the face of ambiguity
Skills and Experience:
  • B.A. Degree in Graphic Design preferred, or equivalent experience may be substituted for educational requirements
  • 1+ years of experience in Graphics Arts industry (e.g. design studio/agency environment) or related field a strong plus.
  • Experience working with MacOS with Sketch, Windows OS with Adobe CC Photoshop is highly preferred.
  • Basic understanding of the market and business environment that affects the assigned clients as it applies to functional area.
  • Good people, organizational, and analytical skills (including attention to detail).
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to interpret concept and/or brand guidelines through to artwork execution (e.g. design comps, sliced assets, etc.)
  • Ability to develop and maintain a collaborative relationship with peers and colleagues in one or more areas of the organization.
  • Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with internal and/or external customers (e.g. Product Owners, Scrum Masters, development teams, customer liaisons, airlines).
  • Ability to work well in a team environment, with a moderate degree of supervision, and manage surging workloads, and meet assigned deadlines.
  • Basic knowledge of Thales IFE products and services a plus
