Position Overview

Logicworks Professional Services is looking for an energetic, detailed-oriented, and creative Cloud QA Engineer who will take on a unique position building out and leading our Cloud QA practice working alongside Cloud Systems Engineers, Solution Architects and Project Managers to ensure the quality of the products and services we deliver to our customers.

Using an analogy to a production line, the QA Engineer will be responsible for: 1) testing new products (e.g. testing implementation of tools provided to PS by the Platform team), 2) performing quality assurance of manufactured products (environments built in the cloud, e.g. resources built match design and specs, management tools/agents are set up and reporting as healthy), 3) improve the velocity of QA process (looking for opportunities to automate manual steps), 4) update current QA standards to account for new products and services (e.g. new management tools, cloud-native services used), and 5) final QA or product handed off to customers and Managed Services (pre-go-live final cloud environments checks – HA testing, test DR failovers, monitoring verification, etc).

Scope of responsibilities:

  • Improve and organize PS QA standards and processes
  • Perform pre-turnover QA of new cloud deployments
  • Perform final QA of client environments pre-go-live
  • Perform setup tasks that are common across all client builds (e.g. common tools setup and verification)
  • Update QA checklists as new offerings, services and tools are introduced
  • Collaborate with stakeholders on improvements to technical project documentation
  • Collaborate with Platform team on product and tools improvements based on engineering feedback
  • Facilitate initial testing of GA releases from Platform team to provide better experience to engineers as they start using tools
  • Review technical documentation, as presented by the Platform team, to ensure it is comprehensive and easy to follow by engineering
  • Review and update PS' technical and process documentation
  • Participate in build retrospectives with build engineers, solution architects and project managers to improve the outcome of build process
  • Report on QA KPI's
  • Deployment of tooling.
  • Facilitating QA for each build, along with improving processes.

Required Skills:

  • Collaborate on improvements to the deployment process with engineers
  • Programming and scripting skills (e.g. Powershell, Bash, AWS/Azure CLI, Python, API, etc)  to work on:
  • Provide QA automation for new builds
  • Ability to refactor technical project document into web portal platform
  • Ability to automate reporting on the status of tooling configuration
  • AWS experience with relevant certifications
  • Azure experience (desired)
  • Excellent written and verbal communications
  • Needs to be able to go through the process of QC and define the QC process.

Desired Skills:

  • Scripting experience for tasks.
  • General knowledge of AWS & Azure.
  • Understand concepts behind Cloud Networking Concepts.
  • AWS OR Azure equivalent - Associate level certification.
  • A QA-specific background (considered a nice-to-have). 

Soft Skills:

  • Well organized.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Experience with geographically distributed engineering teams.
