The Infrastructure Data Center Manufacturing Quality Engineering (IDC-MQE) team works to ensure Facebook's global Data Centers receive best in class products from suppliers by driving continuous improvements to the manufacturing quality of electrical, mechanical, and fiber data center products. The team also supports Facebook's collaboration engineering and connectivity programs. To accomplish these tasks, the team build and implement world class quality practices and processes to reduce risk and eliminate equipment quality disruptions.Facebook is seeking a Manufacturing Quality Engineer (MQE) to join the IDC-MQE team and partner with global manufacturers to drive world class manufacturing processes for Facebook’s data center products. The engineer is expected to be a self-starter, responsible for core quality activities such as conducting audits and product quality reviews, as well as innovating new techniques to drive both efficiency and process improvements.The ideal candidate will have a passion for quality and creating impact in a fast-paced environment. Additionally, the ideal candidate will have a solid engineering and manufacturing background, and have experience collaborating with engineering, supply chain, and construction partners.

  • Drive multiple onsite and remote quality audit activities with critical electrical and mechanical suppliers
  • Work cross functionally to define problem statements, develop metrics, and collect data
  • Provide supplier business review recommendations
  • Collaborate with internal and supplier partners to innovate quality improvements to supplier manufacturing and quality processes
  • Drive internal and external partners to improve efficiency and scalability of current manufacturing processes
  • Support cross-functional initiatives to drive cost, schedule, and manufacturing capacity improvements
  • Provide supplier selection (RFI, RFP, RFQ, SOW) inputs and recommendations
  • Drive best manufacturing new product introduction (NPI) practices with electrical, mechanical and connectivity internal and external partners, for existing and novel technologies
  • Continuously improve working relationships with internal partners
  • Mentor and develop new team members
  • Ability to support up to 15-25% domestic and international travel

  • BA/BS in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent experience
  • 8+ years experience in developing or manufacturing electrical, mechanical, or power products
  • Demonstrated experience using of quality and audit tools, methodologies in a manufacturing and/or engineering environment
  • Experience in performing design of experiment, root cause analysis, and troubleshooting of hardware related issues
  • Supplier management, project management, interpersonal, and organizational experience
  • Proven communication skills, written and verbal

  • MS or PhD in applicable fields
  • ISO9001 and/or ISO14001 certification
  • Technical knowledge and experience in data center fabrication and build out
