We are currently looking for a Materials Planner to join the Thales Avionics, a subsidiary of Thales USA team in Orlando, FL.
The Materials Planner engages in planning/purchasing and distributing complex assemblies, high and low volume procurements by performing the following duties.
Responsible for the management of external procurement of raw materials, parts, supplies and services required at minimum cost, consistent with delivery requirements and quality specifications for major subcontracting activities. Also, works with production and warehouse personnel to create and schedule work orders according to MRP and/or customer requirements.
Interfaces on a daily basis with production, PLM, suppliers, engineering, and OPS MPS group to resolve component issues in a timely manner and assure delivery schedules are achieved.
Supports department personnel to accomplish department goals & objectives.
Monitors performance of suppliers to ensure maintenance of delivery and quality.
Maintains pertinent information regarding supplier delivery and quality.
Supports the supervisor in the development and maintenance of performance metrics of both supplier and planner/buyer.
Supports long-term purchase agreements covering procurement of major commodities.
Monitors the OTD & quality performance of suppliers either directly or through Supplier Quality Managers.
Participate in the material review board to disposition and process discrepant material in a timely manner.
Review and process discrepant material on a daily basis. Work to maintain and beat department goals regarding discrepant material aging and inventory $$ levels.
Proactively follow-up with supplier and effectively communicate status to stakeholders.
Ability to read and comprehend Manufacturing drawings, bills of material, simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and highlight risks in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
Coordinate with production and warehouse personnel to create and schedule work orders according to MRP to meet customer’s schedules.
Establish effective communications and relationships with cross-functional development teams and be the focal point for new/existing material requests.
Skills and Experience:
Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Advanced skills with Microsoft Project, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
Results oriented with strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Experience with SAP preferred but not required.
Must have excellent communication skills, both oral and written
Excellent organizational and planning skills
Self-starter with the ability to multitask and effectively prioritize tasks
