PowerToFly kicked off their Diversity Reboot series in June 2020 and has since presented ten separate summits and over 260+ separate conversions with changemakers and gamechangers including Arianna Huffington, Valerie Jarret, Donna Brazile, Angelica Ross, Rep. Ritchie Torres, Rep. Val Demings, Ai-Jen Poo, Tiffany Cross, Claudia Romo Edleman, and hundreds more, including leaders from such companies as Amazon, Facebook, American Express, Johnson & Johnson, Prezi, Revry, Mastercard and more. PowerToFly’s 2021 summit series brought meaningful conversations about DEI, the future of work, tech, policy and media to 50,000+ registrants and over 250K users.

PowerToFly is looking for a Summit Programmer to book speakers and organize panel discussions for six to seven summits in 2022. The ideal candidate is someone who follows the news (especially in the United States), is cued into culture trends, and is interested in such topics as DEI, the future of work, technology, politics & policy, and media. This person will have strong organization skills and attention to detail (no typo is too small) as they will be corresponding with our top speakers and partners from across the globe!

As part of the Marketing team, the Summit Programmer would report to the Community & Events Lead and work closely with both the Summit Coordinator (responsible for coordinating all logistics for a speaker once they have been booked). In addition to summit tasks, they would need to participate in weekly one-on-ones, standups, and org calls as well as other company-wide initiatives. The Summit Programmer would also assist in booking speakers for special talks that are part of our daily virtual Chat & Learn program.

This role would be 100% remote and would work primarily in the United States Eastern time zone. This role would feature a base salary as well as metrics-based compensation.

Summit Programmer goals:

  • Program approximately 30 to 50 speakers per summit for a total of six to seven summits.
  • Incorporate a mix of live and pre-recorded one on one conversations, panel discussions, keynote discussions, speeches and tech talks as well as networking sessions, product demos and fun sessions (musicians, comedians, meditation sessions)
  • Ensure a diverse lineup of speakers taking into account race, ethnicity, nationality, gender, sex, orientation, and ability.
  • Select speakers that will result in high RSVP and attendance rates.
  • Partner speakers with both external and internal PowerToFly moderators.
  • Collaborate with the Summit Coordinator on speakers, topic discussions, and overall success of the summit every month
  • Continue to innovate and grow the summit product as we head into the post-pandemic era.

Tasks will include:

  • Booking a diverse range of speakers from throughout the worlds of business, tech, policy, media and beyond.
  • Working with sponsors and clients, as well as PowerToFly Account Executives and Customer Success Managers, to ensure that they are fulfilling their sponsored speaking slots.
  • Meeting with speakers on Zoom or by phone to explain the summit series and answer their questions.
  • Coordinate entertainment (DJ, musician, comedian, or other activities) for in-person meetups and watch parties.
  • Sourcing moderators (internal and external) and pair them with speakers.
  • Draft panel topics that can be shared with sponsors and speakers.
  • Collaborate with the Summit Coordinator to create talk titles and descriptions.
  • Brainstorming potential speakers and topics.
  • In addition to the summit, working to book speakers for special talks that are part of PowerToFly’s daily virtual chat & learn program.
  • Assisting with a wide array of support tasks that includes but is not limited to leading meetings, updating internal documents, organizing Google Drives, proofreading copy, providing quality assurance on decks/slides, and more.
