Digiday Media is looking for a full-stack web development lead to help grow our in-house technology and development practice. This is a full-time position with a flexible option to work from an office when conditions permit.

Candidates should be comfortable taking part in and managing day-to-day needs such as QA, code review and deployment, stand-ups, resolving urgent issues, etc. To do it, you’ll work closely with and manage our existing external development agency, as well as related resources as needed.

Over time, the candidate will also audit and improve existing platforms and software, as well as be a trusted internal voice for how our technology stack and team grow in the future. They’ll also be the advocate for tech-related possibilities and limitations within our new product discussions.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure uptime and basic security/stability for our brands’ websites and other various web/technology platforms such as internal content management or newsletter systems and more. Run proactive system and performance health checks, and perform upgrades as needed.
  • Manage our external development agency, communicating each product’s vision and maintaining quality control over all adjustments to our code base.
  • Support, troubleshoot and resolve bugs or other urgent issues
  • Work with project and product managers on developing, testing and releasing features and other structural improvements to our tech stack.
  • Develop simple but useful prototypes to assess the integrity and viability of new product ideas, contributing to an iterative product culture.

Skills

  • We’re open to both full-stack and front-end candidates with strong Javascript, HTML and CSS skills
  • Experience in media/publishing, advertising/marketing, e-commerce a plus
  • Familiarity with AWS, WordPress, FLEX, jQuery, WebPack

Other

  • Ability to multitask, communicate clearly and respectfully and in a timely fashion
  • Experience managing high-profile technology services or websites a plus, as well as experience in the media and/or marketing industry.
  • Comfortable in a startup/fast-moving environment, working primarily with project managers or other developers, but also with non-technical stakeholders.
  • A sense of ownership and responsibility for the technology supporting our products and solutions.
