This position will be part of the Finance & Accounting team at Yelp. This ambitious, fun, and collaborative team manages the financial accounting for Yelp’s worldwide operations, including consolidation of the Yelp group as well as the preparation and communication of internal and external financial reporting of financial results.

This is a full-time role located in the United States.

Where you come in:

  • You will be responsible for the preparation and review of monthly accounting journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations for areas of responsibility as part of our worldwide accounting close process.
  • You will perform financial statement analytics for key areas of responsibility, and be able to communicate those explanations as part of monthly fluctuation analyses with finance management.
  • You will assist in the preparation of external reporting documents, in particular 10-Q and 10-K filings with the Securities and Exchange Commission (“SEC”), as well as other SEC filings, as required.
  • You will research relevant accounting literature and provide technical memos and guidance to ensure that Yelp is accounting for any changes in accordance with U.S. GAAP. 
  • You will become a key business partner by collaborating with relevant cross-functional stakeholders, including the wider Accounting team, FP&A, Tax, Internal Audit, Business Operations, Engineering Organization, among others. 
  • You will assist, and in some cases, lead projects related to enhancements of existing systems or implementation of new systems through close collaboration with other teams, primarily the Financial Systems team. 
  • You will prepare and provide supporting documentation to auditors for both external financial reporting audits and Sarbanes Oxley (“SOX”) related requests and interact with and resolve auditor questions as they arise.  
  • You will ensure compliance with policies and procedures in accordance with SOX requirements and suggest any revisions to existing control narratives or additional controls that may be required within areas of responsibility.
  • You will assist with various projects, including new system implementations, and be able to suggest process improvements for key areas of responsibility.

What it takes to succeed:

  • You have a CPA license, with 4-5 years of relevant experience.
  • Big 4 accounting experience preferred. 
  • You have a strong knowledge of US GAAP.
  • You have strong Microsoft Excel skills.
  • You have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • You display strong attention to detail in all tasks. 
  • You have the ability to work on and prioritize multiple projects while continuing to meet goals and deadlines.
  • You are team-oriented with confidence in dealing with people at all organizational levels within Yelp.
  • You have experience working at or with public companies and SEC filings (this is an advantage, but not required).
  • You have experience with Oracle accounting systems (this is an advantage, but not required).
