With more than two decades of experience in the non-profit sector, Yolanda F. Johnson, Founder at Women of Color in Fundraising and Philanthropy has had an outstanding career as a performing artist, as a composer, as an producer, as an educator, and she has used her background as a performer to become a sought-after fundraising expert. We sit down with Yolanda to hear her fundraising tips, discuss the importance of women in color in philanthropy and even hear about her singing career.

Yolanda F. Johnson (She/Her)

With more than two decades of experience in the non-profit sector, Yolanda F. Johnson has had an outstanding career as a performing artist, as a composer, as an producer, as an educator, and she has used her background as a performer to become a sought-after fundraising expert. Yolanda has launched several new fundraising and marketing initiatives; created special streams of earned income and special events, including creative strategies for partnerships and sponsorships; secured foundation, corporation and government funding and cultivated a diverse major gifts portfolio. She is the President of YFJ Consulting, LLC. As an active lyric Soprano, Yolanda F. Johnson has performed nationally and internationally in operas, concerts, oratorios and sacred music events. She is also an active recitalist/lecturer, most recently on spirituals as related to the Underground Railroad and the works of women composers. She has recorded Feel the Spirit!, an album of Spirituals, and co-created Music She Wrote, a concert celebration of women composers. Tying together her life as a successful performing artist and a non-profit leader, she developed All the World's A Stage, a special workshop using performance practice for getting what one wants out of fundraising, philanthropy and life. She presents All the World's A Stage to audiences across the country.
