DIVERSITY REBOOT SERIES 2024: Empower Her
The Jane Club was co-founded by June Diane Raphael in 2018 as a coworking space on the following principles: Honor all work. Come as you are. Show up. Be of service. But Jane was never just a space or a place, Jane is a movement. PowerToFly is thrilled to be joined with The Jane Club's CEO Zoe Regan, Chief Community Engagement Officer Shawnta Valdes and Chief Kid Officer Chudney Ross to discuss how The Jane Club is building a world where women are not forced to give up what nourishes them in order to care for their family.
Zoe Regan (She/Her)
Zoe Regan is the current CEO and a founding team member of the Jane Club, a digital and community space whose mission is to provide support and service to working women. Zoe has over 15 years of experience in finance and strategy. She started her career in investment banking, advising clients on both buy-side and sell-side M&A, closing over $1B in transactions. Zoe is an excellent leader with over a decade of cross-functional managerial experience leading teams and organizations through periods of turnover, change, and rapid growth. She has served in executive level positions in several start-up businesses as well as a board member and advisor. Zoe volunteers with several non-profit organizations and is a passionate supporter of the advancement of young girls in STEM. She holds a BS in Commerce from the McIntire School of Commerce at the University of Virginia and an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University. She lives in Pasadena, CA with her husband, three children, and two dogs.
Shawnta Valdes (She/Her)
Shawnta Valdes is a transplanted New Yorker and former music PR executive that turned to the tool of meditation in support of her treatment for depression and found a new way to live. She is the director of member engagement under which she leads a daily awareness-based group meditation at The Jane Club.
Chudney Ross (She/Her)
Chudney Ross is a Writer, Teacher, Entrepreneur and most importantly, a Mom. She is the founder of Books and Cookies, a mobile literacy enrichment program focused on rethinking the way that we share books, bring stories to life and build community around literacy. Her love of books also led her to write a middle grade children’s book called Lone Bean, which was published by HarperCollins. Additionally, she’s the Chief Kid Officer at The Jane Club where she has created a space for children to learn, play, and grow alongside their working mothers. Her daughter Callaway (age 8 years) loves to learn, play, read… and eat cookies, too and the newest addition, Everlee (15 months) is a book lover, too!
Dr. Kelly Macias (She/Her)
Kelly Macías is a global DEI consultant and trainer at PowertoFly. She specializes in working with leaders and organizations to increase their effectiveness and further equity, racial and social justice in the world. She is also a writer exploring the intersections of race, gender and politics and has interviewed such notable women as Senator Elizabeth Warren, U.S. Representatives Maxine Waters and Rashida Tlaib, Presidential Medal of Freedom winner Delores Huerta, Black Lives Matter co-founder Alicia Garza and has appeared in various blogs, journals, news and radio shows. Outside of work, Kelly can be found somewhere in the world dancing Argentine tango or at home being bossed around by her stubborn beagle pup named Clinton.
