WORK OPTION: 4 days a week in the New York, NY office

This is a temporary position with an expected duration not to exceed (10) months. 

 

Essential Functions and Job Summary

The Talent Management group within the Human Resources team is responsible for leading the NBA’s enterprise talent management strategies and programs to drive employee engagement and retention, increase productivity and performance, and build a strong pipeline of talent for key roles and future business needs. The group is responsible for performance management, talent development, employee engagement, leadership development, coaching, as well as leading the organization’s competency development initiatives as it relates to key professional skills that help to build teams and advance the mission of the NBA on a global scale.

We are seeking an individual to join us on a project basis to help design and execute a range of individual, team, and organization-wide initiatives built to enhance employee engagement, development, and performance. This includes supporting the implementation of new talent development programs and existing initiatives tied to employee engagement and performance management.  
 
The ideal candidate is a self-sufficient professional with a consistent track record of working autonomously on deliverables while building in a fast-paced environment. You have a keen interest in, and grasp of, leading practices across talent management and learning. You have some experience building programs that develop soft skills, including people manager development. You’re willing to extend yourself to support your team and the department. 
 
You will be expected to work from our New York (645 5th Ave.) office 4 days/week with the option to work remotely 1 day/week.


Major Responsibilities

Talent Development 
•    Assist in the delivery of development programs targeted at early/mid-career talent and people managers globally. These programs will leverage multiple modalities (e.g. e-learning, in-person, social, job-aids) and draw on external vendors and partnerships to support. 
•    Craft learning collections with pathways that point toward experiences/exposure opportunities beyond our established platforms (e.g. Linkedin Learning, Coursera, and Bravely).
•    Assist in piloting an internal career pathing exercise through interviews and research that complement our learning offerings and support fostering career growth. 
•    Support the design and execution of a high potential program in partnership with outside consulting services. 

 

Performance & Engagement 
•    Provide support for our annual Performance processes, helping employees and managers develop clear goals, measure and monitor performance, collect and provide feedback, and fairly assess performance as part of the year-end review. 
•    Support the organization-wide Engagement initiatives from scheduling events to coordinating lunch and learns to managing speakers for the agenda. 

 

Communication and Measurement 
•    Partner with the Talent Management Analyst and HRIS teams to ensure the effective use of learning technologies, including tracking learning activity in Success Factors and other learning systems.
•    Support marketing plans and materials that enhance employee awareness of, and participation in, talent and learning programs. 

 

Required Education/Professional Experience

•    3-5 years of progressive HR, HR consulting, training and/or talent development experience. 
•    Bachelors degree or additional 2+ years of relevant professional experience. 
•    Experience facilitating learning and development programs to a global audience. 
•    Experience supporting employee listening strategies including full-scale employee surveys. 
•    Experience working with diverse stakeholder groups within an organization.
•    Certification in individual and team development tools and assessments (e.g. DISC, Hogan, Insights Discovery, MBTI) preferred. 


Required Skills/Knowledge Attributes 

•    Strong facilitation skills. 
•    Experience designing meetings, programs and other agendas to achieve desired outcomes.. 
•    Excellent analytical, written, interpersonal communication skills. 
•    Experience managing multiple projects and initiatives simultaneously and autonomously in a fast-paced, high-growth environment. 
•    Strong technology skills, including Microsoft Office (required), learning management systems, audiovisual and online meeting tools. 
•    Demonstrated ability to quickly master new concepts and improve upon them with experience. 
•    Exceptional attention to detail. 
•    Demonstrated ability to build relationships across an HR or related function. 
 

 

Salary Range: $125,000 - $135,000 (10 months)
