Sr. Director, International Security Operations is responsible for building and establishing an organization dedicated to protecting our people, product, and brand using a risk-based methodology. This role will be responsible for supporting all global UHG businesses, approximately 90,000+ employees, with heavy density within Ireland, India, and the Philippians. This role will be responsible for leading end to end security operations which includes support within business engagement, guard force management, critical site strategy, executive protection, travel, intel/threat/ and engagement within the ESOC (enterprise security operations center). This leader will work collaboratively across a team of indirect and direct reports helping safeguard our operations.  This position will provide coaching, mentoring, and support in development of staff across multiple business functions to drive a highly engaged team. This role will require close partnership and collaboration across business and industry segments including: Optum Global, Real-estate, Legal, Technology, Compliance, ESRO cross function teams, business segment sr. leaders, Accounting, Asset Protection, and our People team amongst many other teams.

 

Success of this role will entail the ability to quickly analyze and assess opportunities for improvement. Optimizing business collaboration by bringing to life a strategy of continuous improvement, and leadership to help design/adjust the organization structure to support current and future business needs will be required in our fluid and vastly growing business model.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Leverage data to help measure progress and risk around evolving security posture
  • Develop strategy and vision to further enhance our program as our International Security Operations leader
  • Develop sustainable exercise and tabletop cadences across operations to ensure state of constant readiness
  • Partner with our Technology and Enablement teams to further enhance security posture through innovation
  • Manage key contract relationships with security guard force teams across multiple countries
  • Produce key metrics that help define Security needs and measures of success. Monitor trends and threats to anticipate emerging risks and adjust strategies accordingly
  • Foster a team environment that sets high standards of performance, engages and inspires others to perform at their best, rigorously identifies and develops key individuals with the critical capabilities needed by the organization
  • Partner with Human Capital on employee issues/concerns, consistent application and adherence of policies, hiring, talent planning, promotions, corrective action, termination, IDRs, and other employee relations

Required Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent
  • Extensive years of experience leading in Security, Operations, and/or Asset Protection/Loss Prevention teams
  • Experience managing daily operations of multiple levels of staff and/or multiple functions departments across business units
  • Proven solid business acumen & successful track record in aligning with customers
  • Proven change agent with ability to drive compliance, protocols, and standardization
  • Ability to be a solid cross-functional team player with the ability to manage and coach others in a matric structure, across many national boundaries and time zones
  • Demonstrated strategy: ability to build strategic vision and drive organizational change   
  • Proven analytic skills: ability to think objectively and interpret meaningful themes from quantitative and qualitative data
  • Demonstrated problem solving & decision quality: ability to use rigorous logic and methods to solve problems with effective solutions
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and managing a security program
  • Demonstrated relationship management: ability to build constructive and effective relationships with a broad and diverse group of business partners. Fostering a culture of collaboration will be essential to this position
  • Proven influencing and negotiation skills: ability to present ideas and directions that lead others to action
  • Proven planning and priority setting: demonstrated ability to set objectives and goals and organize work appropriately to meet and exceed expectations. Proven solid organizational and time management skills
  • Demonstrated solid listening, written and oral communication skills

 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Master's Degree or equivalent
  • Certifications: Six Sigma Black or Green Belt
  • Experience with mergers and acquisitions
  • Experience leading in a highly regulated industry
