Optum Advisory Services (OAS) is seeking a strategic and innovative leader to help accelerate the commercialization of Business & Technology modernization driven products and services across our Payer Technology Practice. This role will be responsible for ensuring our consulting and technology offerings are market-aligned, commercially viable, and positioned to deliver measurable value to clients.
The ideal candidate will bring deep experience at the intersection of AI, healthcare technology, and consulting, with the ability to translate emerging capabilities into scalable offerings and business growth. This is a high-impact role designed to elevate how Optum brings innovation to market - bridging strategy, commercialization, and client adoption.
You'll enjoy the flexibility to work remotely * from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges. For all hires in the Minneapolis or Washington, D.C. area, you will be required to work in the office a minimum of four days per week.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Business & Technology Modernization - Commercialization
- Lead the strategic commercialization of AI products, platforms, and advisory services across the payer technology continuum
- Develop and refine go-to-market strategies that translate innovation into differentiated, client-ready solutions
- Identify opportunities to package, price, and scale offerings to meet evolving market needs
- Partner with product, technology, and delivery teams to ensure solutions are both technically sound and commercially viable
- Define frameworks and narratives that articulate the value of AI capabilities to payer clients, enhancing client engagement and adoption
- Conduct market and competitive assessments to inform service positioning and prioritization
- Strategic Partnerships & Collaboration
- Partner with Optum Tech, Optum Insight, and Growth Office teams to align AI commercialization with enterprise priorities
- Partner with delivery, sales, and product leaders to ensure Business & Technology modernization offerings are effectively deployed, measured, and improved
- Represent the practice in leadership forums, client engagements, and strategic planning sessions
- Drive cross-functional alignment to ensure commercialization efforts reflect both enterprise priorities and client expectations
- Product Leadership & Delivery
- Define and continuously evolve product, ensuring it remains relevant, competitive, and aligned with enterprise strategy
- Own the product roadmap and development lifecycle (PDLCR) - from requirements gathering through prioritization, build, and refinement
- Lead creation and delivery of key outputs including the Product Definition Document, Product Roadmap, and PDLCR framework
- Drive cross-functional collaboration across advisory, product, and technology teams to accelerate product maturity and market impact
- Ensure products are positioned as a scalable, differentiating platform for both internal enablement and client delivery

Required Qualifications:
- 10+ years in digital consulting, strategy, or service development
- 7+ years of client-facing experience in healthcare or technology consulting
- 5+ years in payer/provider healthcare, life sciences, or health tech
- 4+ years leading complex engagements and cross-functional teams
- 3+ years in service commercialization, go-to-market strategy, or portfolio management
- Willingness to travel up to 20% domestically
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with AI/ML, cloud platforms, and automation frameworks
- Experience with digital innovations in established or startup organizations
- Experience managing projects that achieved budget and timeline goals
- Familiarity with enterprise architecture, data engineering, and platform modernization
- Background in healthcare consulting - prefer payer and/or provider experience
- Skilled in human-centered design, agile service development, and strategic storytelling
- Proven success in launching and scaling consulting offerings in healthcare
- Proven ability to drill down to the root cause of issues and be creative in problem solving
- Proven ability to possess analytical reasoning and solution-focus problem solving, hypothesis-based problem solving
- Proven ability to lead and motivate cross-functional teams
- Proven skilled in Human centered design thinking and approaches

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). No matter where or when you begin a career with us, you'll find a far-reaching choice of benefits and incentives. The salary for this role will range from $132,200 to $226,600 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
