Software Dev Engineer II

Are you a highly motivated Software Development Engineer who wants to own, enhance and develop independent/open-source products which solve unique problems for developers/customers? If you're not satisfied with the status quo and constantly want to improve things, we want you here! Come join us and help build the products around data persistence, transport, and governance that connects EG teams and their data using shared platforms.

As a part of DataPlatform team, our services are designed using API-first and stream-first approaches; and they run in a real-time 24x7 environment with robustness, scalability, reliability, and high performance. We like to innovate, learn and have fun while building the best products for EG and open-source communities. As for engineering, we solve problems of scale and work on cutting-edge and open-source technologies. Our culture strives to solve difficult problems focusing on product engineering based on hypothesis testing to empower people to come up with ideas.

Technologies we work with include Java, React, PostgreSQL, Cassandra, Kafka, Splunk, Jenkins, Docker, AWS (EC2, S3, EMR, RDS, Kinesis, and multi-data center architecture).

What you will do:

• Design, develop, and maintain high-quality Java Spring Boot applications.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new features.

• Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code.

• Ensure the performance, quality, and responsiveness of applications.

• Identify bottlenecks and bugs, and devise solutions to these problems.

• Help maintain code quality, organization, and automation.

• Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback to team members.

• Stay updated with the latest industry trends and technologies.

Who you are:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

• 3+ years of professional experience in Java development.

• Strong proficiency in Java and Spring Boot framework.

• Experience with RESTful APIs and microservices architecture.

• Familiarity with front-end technologies (e.g., HTML, CSS, JavaScript) is a plus.

• Knowledge of database systems like MySQL, PostgreSQL, or MongoDB.

• Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git).

• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).

• Familiarity with containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).

• Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.

• Understanding of Agile methodologies.
