Skills and Competencies

 

  • 5+ years of experience in data governance, data management, or related roles.
  • 2+ years of experience in project management
  • Proficiency in data governance, project management, and experience in reporting tools (i.e. Databricks, Alteryx, Python, SQL, MS Fabric, Purview, Collibra, Jira etc.)
  • Solid working knowledge of Salesforce.
  • Proven experience in working in multi-functional team, data management, preferably within a commercial setting.
  • Strong understanding of data integrity and change management processes.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with both business and technical teams.
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical skills.
  • Experience with industry-standard data governance tools (e.g., Collibra, Informatica, Alation, Purview) and project management tools (e.g., Jira, MS Project, Smartsheet).
  • Demonstrated proficiency in artificial intelligence concepts, with hands-on experience using AI tools to streamline workflows and enhance operational efficiency. Proven ability to implement AI-powered solutions to solve business challenges. Demonstrates a growing awareness of AI risk management and a commitment to responsible and ethical AI use.

 

 

Education

 

Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree in Data Management, Data Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Analytics, or related field

 

Responsibilities

 

The Assistant Director, Data Governance will be responsible for establishing data governance frameworks, ensuring data quality, compliance, and security standards are upheld. The role will involve coordinating strategic initiatives and is critical in driving data-driven decision-making while ensuring projects align with business objectives and deliver value.

 

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Define, implement, and maintain data governance policies, standards, and best practices to ensure data consistency, accuracy, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with data stewards and business units to establish clear data ownership, accountability, and workflows for data quality improvement.
  • Oversee the creation and maintenance of a Business Intelligence data catalog, ensuring proper documentation of data lineage, definitions, and classifications.
  • Develop and track data governance KPIs (e.g., data quality scores, policy compliance rates) and present findings to senior leadership.
  • Conduct training sessions to foster a culture of data responsibility.
  • Oversee the Business Intelligence projects, ensuring alignment with strategic goals, resource optimization, and timely delivery.
  • Establish project governance frameworks, monitor project risks, and provide regular updates to executive stakeholders.
  • Facilitate collaboration between teams, ensuring that interdependencies are managed and project objectives are achieved.
  • Manage resource allocation across projects, identifying gaps and coordinating solutions to optimize efficiency.

The MA Business Intelligence Team is dedicated to supporting data-driven decision-making across Moody’s Analytics. Our team is committed to providing insightful analysis, robust data solutions, and actionable intelligence to help drive strategic initiatives and operational excellence. We work closely with various departments to ensure that data is leveraged effectively to meet business goals and enhance overall performance.

 

For US-based roles only: the anticipated hiring base salary range for this position is $118,700.00 - $172,250.00, depending on factors such as experience, education, level, skills, and location. This range is based on a full-time position. In addition to base salary, this role is eligible for incentive compensation. Moody’s also offers a competitive benefits package, including not but limited to medical, dental, vision, parental leave, paid time off, a 401(k) plan with employee and company contribution opportunities, life, disability, and accident insurance, a discounted employee stock purchase plan, and tuition reimbursement.
