- Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Economics, Operations Research, Engineering, a related quantitative field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience using analytics to solve product or business problems, coding (e.g., Python, R, SQL), querying databases or statistical analysis.
Preferred qualifications:
- Master's degree in Economics or a related field (e.g., Statistics, Data Science, Public Policy, Business, Finance).
- Experience in econometric modeling and statistical analyses, using standard statistical software such as Stata and R.
- Experience in regulatory or litigation proceedings at an economic consulting firm, competition agency, or technology company.
- Coursework in industrial organization and/or antitrust economics.
- Passion for technology and its potential to make the world a better place and knowledge of key challenges affecting the sector.

As an Associate Competition Economist at Google, you will play a critical role in ensuring that our products and services operate within a competitive and innovative marketplace.
- Collaborate with experienced Competition Economists and conduct data-driven economic analysis to assess the competitive effects of Google's products and business practices.
- Partner with Competition Economists to provide expert advice to senior stakeholders on competition policy matters and contribute to Google's engagement with regulatory bodies worldwide.
- Assess emerging market trends and competitive dynamics to inform leadership and shape Google's strategy in response to evolving user needs.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Engineering, Product, Legal, and Finance teams to provide economic evidence in competition-related litigation.
