OnsiteCollins Aerospace is seeking a talented & motivated individual to join the Avionics Advanced Systems & Architectures (ASA) organization as a Value Stream Leader (VSL) supporting the Common Framework.
This is a very unique role that combines traditional VSL responsibilities with business strategy & product line engineering (PLE) acumen, chartered to develop & deploy critical components of a new operating model for product development for the Avionics business. The ideal candidate will have an innate ability to collaborate with, inspire & influence individuals from any part of the organization, at any operating level.
This is an onsite role located in Cedar Rapids, IA.
What YOU will do:
- Spearhead the maturation & implementation of an innovative approach to management of software (SW) as a product line.
- Develop, deploy & maintain reference architecture (RA) material, & champion its adoption on programs across Avionics.
- Own roadmaps & strategies for the Avionics RA, associated governance, & products in the Core Services & Libraries SW product line.
- Operate as the business-level PLE champion for the Avionics organization, including driving operational & financial support for the transitional adoption of PLE practices.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide VSL support to peer product lines & channels for respective segment analyses.
- Lead strategic activities to develop & inform roadmap advancements.
- Develop investment business cases, growth strategies & drive annual strategic planning efforts for the business.
- Identify & react to program problems & recommend solutions, such as allocation of resources or prioritization of feature development & assist in resolution development for escalated problems.
- Execution responsibilities include cost, schedule, performance, risk management, product support, deployment support, & quality.
- Lead decision making for the IPT & apply critical thinking where incomplete data exists.
- Establish data-driven performance targets & direct work to achieve these targets.
- Accountable for the overall performance of the assigned value stream.
What YOU will learn:
- You will gain leadership experience over a cross-functional & highly skilled development team.
- You will gain experience in strategic & business engagements with multiple stakeholders across RTX, including Avionics Channels & your peer Avionics Product Lines as well as key central functions such as Global Trade & Engineering Infrastructure.
- You will gain experience & develop into subject matter focal regarding how to manage SW product lines & generate revenue from the sale or licensing of SW & manage associated intellectual property.
- You will be at the forefront of the deployment of new “ways of working” for how products are developed in support of the Avionics business.
Education and /Experience:
- Typically required a Bachelor’s degree and 10 years of relevant experience OR
- Advance degree and 7 years of relevant experience OR
- In absence of a degree, 14 years of relevant experience is required.
U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.
Qualifications You must have:
- Experience leading complex SW and/or system developments.
- Demonstrated ability to influence & negotiate with stakeholders to achieve enterprise commitments is required.
- Must have experience leading cross-functional teams with matrixed responsibilities.
Qualifications we would like to see:
- Experience with successful revenue generating acquisition of SW-enabled capabilities by Avionics customers.
- Experience with Civil certification.

The salary range for this role is 118,000 USD - 246,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
