Raytheon Technologies (RTX) is seeking a Software Infrastructure Engineering Intern to join our distinguished Next Generation Water Prediction Capability (NGWPC) team to support development, implementation, deployment, and maintenance of state-of-the-art systems for unique customer missions. NGWPC is a Program that will help improve water predictions for National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).
Candidates will help provide a scalable, operational-quality Next Generation Water Resources Modeling Framework and hydrologic and hydraulic model formulations that run within that framework; optimization tools and an evaluation environment that supports both the National Weather Model (NWM) and Flood Inundation Mapping (FIM) services; upgraded FIM capabilities and services; and an underlying data model, collection of geospatial datasets (Hydrofabric) and tools that support both NWM Development and the implementation of FIM services.

Responsibilities to Anticipate:
- You will Support infrastructure/DevOps build and automation activities utilizing programming/scripting skills (Ruby, Python, Go, PowerShell, and Java) and continuous integration / continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipelines in a Agile environment.
- You will Provide basic support in the development, documentation and maintenance/management of operations concepts, requirements (system, element, segment, or subsystem level), external and internal interfaces, and other systems engineering work products/artifacts
- You will Integrate multiple software and hardware subsystems
- You will Apply technical standards, principles, theories, concepts and techniques to solve problems
This position can be a Sophomore, Junior, Senior, or Post-Graduate based on the based on the candidate's classification as determined by grad year on resume and provided via questionnaire by candidate as outlined below:
(Sophomore Technical Intern) - must be enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program.
(Junior Technical Intern) - must be enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program.
(Senior Technical Intern) - must be enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program.
(Post-Graduate Technical Intern)- must have an undergraduate degree and be enrolled in a graduate degree program (in degree fields listed in Qualifications You Must Have) by start of internship.
Basic Qualifications:
- Must be a Sophomore, Junior, Senior or Post-Graduate by the start of Summer 2024 in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Science, Technology, Engineering, Math or related field.
- This position requires 12 months or less of relevant professional work experience (excluding internships).
- The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required.
- U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
- Experience and understanding of Hydrology and other Hydrologic features and applications.
- Ability to apply basic engineering principles, theories, and concepts.
- Ability to develop solutions to routine technical problems.
- Ability to work in a multi discipline team environment.
- Ability to articulate status and results.
- Possess good written and oral communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Cloud Technologies (AWS, Azure, Docker)
- Experience and understanding of programming concepts and development/scripting skills using Python, Java with the ability to pick up any language quickly
- Experience with modeling, specifically the National Water Model
- Experience with Flood Inundation Mapping Services or other appropriate mapping services
- Experience with Jira and Confluence applications
- Understanding or knowledge of DevOps processes
- Exposure to integration of software and hardware subsystems
- Exposure to the software development life cycle

The salary range for this role is 37,000 USD - 82,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
