The Global Compound Logistics and Operations organization (GCLO) within AbbVie manages the inventory, dispersal, and logistics of biological and chemical entities for drug discovery and development. We are seeking an experienced, motivated individual with a strong background in Chemistry or Biochemistry to join our team in a leadership capacity.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and coordinate complex compound management projects, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams across R&D.
Provide mentorship and training to less experienced staff within the laboratory logistics team.
Drive process improvements by identifying operational bottlenecks and recommending solutions to enhance logistics efficiency, accuracy, and compliance.
Ensure full compliance with all regulatory, safety, and DEA requirements; proactively address and implement changes in legal or industry standards.
Efficiently prioritize and execute time-sensitive and complex logistics requests with strong independent judgment.
Operate precision balance equipment for high-throughput massing of compounds; solvate and plate research materials using automated liquid handlers and robotics.
Prepare and maintain documentation for biological and chemical shipments, including shipping and receiving records.
Manage controlled drug inventory in accordance with DEA and company policies, including oversight of audits and record keeping.
Oversee the registration and management of small molecule inventories, chemical databases, and inventory information systems.
Support external collaboration orders, and participate in cross-functional project teams to drive operational excellence.
Receive, organize, and maintain laboratory supplies; appropriately dispose of laboratory waste products.
Author and update SOPs, and actively contribute to continuous improvement efforts aligned with AbbVie's values.
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Physics, or Biology
- 2 years of experience in compound management or a related field, with demonstrated leadership or mentorship experience preferred
- Strong problem-solving, oral and written communication skills
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office and laboratory automation, including automated liquid handlers and robotics
- Familiarity with controlled drug regulations and experience managing compliance within a laboratory setting
- Ability to independently prioritize and manage multiple shifting deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Experience with chemical inventory information systems and supply chain/inventory management preferred
- Accustomed to working safely for extended periods in controlled environments (e.g., fume hoods, balance enclosures)

The compensation range described below is the range of possible base pay compensation that the Company believes in good faith it will pay for this role at the time of this posting based on the job grade for this position.
