Skills and Competencies
  • Working knowledge of Structured Finance, with demonstrated credit risk analysis experience
  • Strong modelling skills and ability to perform cash flow analysis using analytical tools, or willingness and ability to develop these skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
  • Capable of developing independent opinions and defending own views clearly and succinctly.
  • Ability to collaborate closely with others as well as independently to produce accurate, detailed work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
  • Highly organized and efficient, with ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects and tasks with a high degree of accuracy and timely delivery
  • Ability to work on projects and initiatives without the need for close supervision. Familiarity with data analytics and GenAI, and the capacity to apply these skills for insightful problem-solving is preferred
  • Knowledge of and work experience in RMBS is desirable.
  • Open to reviewing candidates with different qualifications and/or less years of experience with relevant skills for the role. 
Education
  • Preferred degree in economics, finance, statistics, applied mathematics, financial engineering or related field with 4+ years of relevant work experience. 
Responsibilities
  • The individual will act as lead analyst on the U.S. RMBS New Ratings team and develop strong knowledge of the housing finance market through hands-on credit analysis, methodology training, and collaborative engagement with new ratings and surveillance teams.
  • The individual will be primarily responsible for analyzing the underlying asset portfolio, transaction structure, deal-level financial modeling to formulate and substantiate independent credit opinions and other credit aspects of new US RMBS transactions and producing publishable research, including transaction-related reports, articles and in-depth reports on credit issues affecting the industry.
  • The individual is also expected to undertake special projects intended to enhance Moody's thought leadership in credit markets and operational efficiencies, including digital enablement projects where data analytics and general artificial intelligence (GenAI) are applied to deliver innovative solutions.
  • The candidate will be expected to lead rating committees and offer analysis of the credit risk of the transactions, potential credit impact of the terms of the transaction documents and communicate effectively and professionally with customers.
About the team

Structured Finance Group (SFG), U.S. RMBS New Ratings. 
The team is responsible for assigning ratings on a wide variety of securitizations backed by residential mortgages and other similar products. The team also produces timely and high-quality research on developing trends and events in the mortgage market through sector and issuer comments and in-depth research reports, and also participates in industry conferences and investor/issuer meetings. 

For US-based roles only: the anticipated hiring base salary range for this position is $134,400.00 -  $194,850.00, depending on factors such as experience, education, level, skills, and location. This range is based on a full-time position. In addition to base salary, this role is eligible for incentive compensation. Moody’s also offers a competitive benefits package, including not but limited to medical, dental, vision, parental leave, paid time off, a 401(k) plan with employee and company contribution opportunities, life, disability, and accident insurance, a discounted employee stock purchase plan, and tuition reimbursement.
