Compensation Range: 139,500-174,500 plus bonus

Job Purpose
The Director of Projects for the United States and Canada provides executive leadership for all construction, deployment, and infrastructure programs supporting EnerSys Reserve Power, Motive Power, Energy Systems, and Energy-as-a-Service (EaaS) solutions. This includes management of large-scale construction initiatives for telecom, UPS, critical facilities, data centers, utility applications, industrial sites, and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) that support EnerSys’ strategic growth in Total Energy Solutions.
The Director oversees engineering teams, construction partners, commissioning processes, and national deployment programs—ensuring world-class execution, cost efficiency, safety, regulatory compliance, and customer-focused delivery. This leader will support EnerSys’ transformation efforts to streamline the Field Services footprint, modernize infrastructure, and scale BESS and hybrid-energy deployments across North America.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Strategic & Operational Leadership
- Lead construction strategy and execution across EnerSys’ U.S. and Canada regions with a focus on mission-critical power, telecom networks, UPS infrastructure, and BESS deployments.
- Partner with Product Management, Energy Systems, Sales, Supply Chain, and Field Service Operations to support EnerSys’ expansion into EaaS, Total Energy Solutions, renewable integration, and motive-power hybrid systems.
- Manage regional and national construction programs, aligning execution to EnerSys FY26 strategic initiatives, including footprint optimization and service-network transformation.
- Develop and maintain construction standards, site readiness protocols, MOPs, commissioning practices, and safety guidelines for all project types.
Program & Portfolio Management
- Oversee a large-scale construction portfolio across telecom, data center, industrial, and utility customers, including projects ranging from small upg
- rades to multi-million-dollar deployments.
- Direct the planning, engineering, permitting, and execution of BESS installations, microgrids, backup power systems, reserve power infrastructure, and customer-specific energy solutions.
- Manage contractor networks, engineering consultants, and integrators to maintain quality, delivery timelines, safety compliance, and cost performance.
- Build forecasting models and CAPEX/OPEX budgets that support EnerSys’ long-term service and energy-solutions strategy.
Technical Leadership
- Lead engineering and technical assurance for construction involving:
- Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS):
- Site evaluation, sizing, electrical design, utility interconnection, installation, commissioning, EMS integration, thermal management, and acceptance testing.
- Oversee BESS construction risk assessments, EPC partner quality, and national safety compliance standards.
- DC power systems, telecom power plants, rectifiers, and reserve-power applications
- UPS, generators, switchgear, and balance-of-plant electrical systems
- HVAC/cooling, fire suppression, safety systems, and facility environmental controls
- Access control, security, alarming, and monitoring infrastructure
People Leadership & Organizational Development
- Build and lead a high-performance, customer-focused engineering and construction organization supporting EnerSys’ growing Energy Systems and EaaS businesses.
- Coach and mentor project managers, engineers, and field leaders; develop clear KPIs and performance expectations tied to delivery, safety, and financial performance.
- Support organizational redesign efforts as EnerSys consolidates service centers, enhances regional operations, and formalizes new energy-solutions delivery teams.
Customer & Stakeholder Engagement
- Serve as the senior construction leader interfacing with telecom carriers, data center customers, OEM partners, utilities, industrial clients, EPCs, and regulatory authorities.
- Support sales, engineering, and business development teams with technical expertise during scoping, proposals, and customer solution design.
- Act as executive steward for customer satisfaction, ensuring projects meet EnerSys standards for safety, reliability, quality, and operational readiness.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Electrical/Mechanical/Civil, Construction Management, or related discipline.
- 15+ years of progressive leadership in construction, engineering, mission-critical facilities, energy storage, telecom, or electrical infrastructure.
- Demonstrated experience managing BESS, energy-storage, power systems, microgrid, or hybrid-energy construction projects.
- Experience leading large multi-region, multi-disciplinary engineering and construction teams.
- Strong knowledge of NEC, NFPA, CSA, OSHA, utility interconnection requirements, and national electrical/construction safety codes.
- Proven success managing CAPEX budgets ($50M–$150M+) and high-volume construction portfolios.
- Expertise in project management methodologies (PMBOK/PMP) and process-focused operational leadership.
- Ability to travel 50% of the time and work in a hybrid arrangement when not traveling with Tuesday through Thursday being in office and Monday/Friday being remote optional.
Preferred
- MBA or advanced leadership/business degree (aligned with Jon’s background).
- PMP, Six Sigma Green Belt, or equivalent certification.
- Industry experience with telecom central offices, data centers, utilities, renewable energy, or industrial energy systems.
- Experience supporting EaaS or long-term energy-service contract delivery models.
