Skills and Competencies
- 2+ years’ experience performing in an Accounting, Auditing or Billing environment required.
- A background demonstrating strong analytical and problem solving ability is necessary.
- Thinks critically and exercises sound judgment and is able to articulate their own views. Fully explores problems and/or opportunities and provides solutions proactively.
- Focuses on results with a sense of urgency. Proven ability to overcome obstacles and bring issues to closure.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively compile and compare disparate pieces of information to support decision-making.
Education
- Undergraduate degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or other business discipline.
Responsibilities
The Billing Analyst is expected to support the Customer Billing Mission Statement. This role will need to acquire Subject matter expertise with a thorough understanding of complex business concepts, products, and business rules (e.g. fee agreements, pricing requirements). Under the supervision of the Customer Billing Leadership, the Analyst is expected to support BAU activities as well as contributing to process improvements and ad-hoc tasks.
The role is primarily focused on supporting the global team on processing of invoicing and accrual activities while also maintaining our secure control environment. The role works closely across departments in the Finance, Commercial, and GMO Organizations.
- Monitor the delivery of invoices in a timely and accurate manner whilst meeting revenue SOX control requirements.
- Acquire/build on subject matter expertise to support high dollar/complex invoicing tasks.
- Partner with our internal customers (i.e. Commercial and Finance Organization), in supporting the delivery of high quality invoicing service to our external MIS customers.
- Develop a thorough understanding of rating products, fee schedules and the applications used.
- Process bespoke requests such as complex fee arrangements, high profile issuers, exception pricing (discounts).
- Ensure key/compensating control functions are executed accurately and timely.
- Support the team’s goals and communicate progress regularly.
- Participate in and coordinate activities regionally in support of ad hoc projects.
About the team
The Customer Billing team is responsible to deliver a high-quality invoicing service to MIS customers and provide key business partners with the data needed to develop successful strategies. The function has direct impacts on the organization’s financial results, including revenue recognition, regulatory/ financial reporting.
