Job Purpose

The Director, HR Corporate Functions will be responsible for managing the organizations programs and policies related to daily HR operations for Corporate functions including but not limited to, employee relations, performance management, training and development, employee retention, compensation, due diligence, HRIS, and recruitment.  This role serves as a strategic business partner to the General and Administrative (G&A) business unit and also serves as a subject matter expert (SME) on HR compliance and policy governance across Corporate and G&A functions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

 

    • Consults with line management in the (G&A) business unit, providing HR guidance when appropriate.
    • Analyzes trends and metrics in partnership with the HR group to develop solutions, programs and policies.
    • Manages and resolves complex employee relations issues. Conducts effective, thorough and objective investigations.
    • Maintains in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance. Partners with the legal department as needed/required.
    • Provides day-to-day performance management guidance to line management (e.g., coaching, counseling, career development, disciplinary actions).
    • Works closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention.
    • Provides HR policy guidance and interpretation.
    • Primary owner of all U.S. compliance vendors: labor law posters, drug screen and background check providers.
    • Own the interpretation, application, and continuous improvement of HR policies and procedures to ensure alignment with business needs and global regulatory requirements.
    • Partner closely with Legal, Employee Relations, and Centers of Excellence to monitor evolving labor legislation, lead proactive policy updates, and ensure consistent implementation across the enterprise.
    • Provide strategic counsel to HRBPs and senior leaders regarding compliance risk mitigation and HR-related regulatory matters.
    • Provides guidance and input on business unit restructures, workforce planning and succession planning.
    • Identifies training needs for business units and individual executive coaching needs.
    • Oversees all employee-centered Corporate events.
    • Serves as the HR lead for the United Way Employee Campaign committee.
    • Performs other related duties as assigned.

     SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Provide direct supervision to HR Generalists and HR Compliance Specialist roles.

Qualifications

Education and Experience: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources or related field
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience resolving complex employee relations issues.
  • Working knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines, including compensation practices, organizational diagnosis, employee and union relations, diversity, performance management, and federal and state respective employment laws.
  • Experience with HRIS systems such as SAP Success Factors is preferred.
  • Experience in a manufacturing setting is preferred.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: 

  • PHR or SHRM Certification is preferred.

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to comprehend, interpret, and apply the appropriate sections of applicable laws, guidelines, regulations, ordinances, and policies.
  • Ability to acquire a thorough understanding of the organization's hierarchy, jobs, qualifications, compensation practices, and the administrative practices related to those factors.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

TRAVEL REQUIRED: Less than 5%

  • This position will work in an office setting, expect minimal physical demands.
