Compensation Range: $74,000 - $110,800
(Compensation may vary based on applicant's work experience, education level, skill set, and/or location.)

Job Purpose

ABSL Space Products (a division of EnerSys) is the world-leading manufacturer of Lithium-ion batteries for space applications.  The EnerSys/ ABSL team in Longmont, CO designs Lithium-Ion battery systems to meet the strenuous requirements of space travel.  Our batteries power the future of space exploration, scientific advancement, and more in some of the finest spacecraft and launch vehicles in the industry.  The EnerSys/ABSL team is tight-knit and employees value the small company feel while also being a part of EnerSys, the global leader in stored energy solutions.  The EnerSys/ABSL team is growing and looking for individuals that share a common interest in the space and power industry and want to work in this exciting environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

•    Implement internal QMS within assigned programs.
•    Act as a liaison with customer’s quality representative to support project communication on quality matters, including mandatory inspections.
•    Work directly with internal project managers and customer’s quality representatives to resolve quality issues
•    Participate in design reviews and project milestone reviews
•    Review and approve project documentation for compliance with appropriate quality standards and practices.  Includes, but not limited to: Drawings, Schematics, Manufacturing and Test travelers, Rework documentation
•    Participate in and prepare content for internal reviews that precede major phases of a project to ensure completion of documentation, availability of resources and checking of quality and safety standards
•    Lead and facilitate MRB Meetings, including publishing of notes, action items with owners, providing problem solving guidance, and coordinating corrective action activities as required by QMS procedures.
•    Oversight of project documentation to ensure maintenance of configuration control
•    Control of supplier’s parts, materials and process selection on assigned programs to ensure compliance with appropriate quality standards and practices
•    Support 3rd party, customer and internal audits
•    Able to resolve problems with minimal input from others. 
•    Ownership, maintenance, reporting, and process improvement for assigned overhead QMS process (ex.  Maintain Humidity/Temperature monitoring systems, department ESD coordinator, etc.)
•    Back up quality inspection support for manufacturing and test processes
•    Participates in process CIP activities in key process areas
•    Perform internal audits
•    Perform supplier audits as required
•    Training of new Quality Inspectors or Quality Engineers to key processes

Qualifications

  • Certified to or ability to obtain the following, off-site, NASA/IPC certifications: 
    • NASA 8739.1 NASA Conformal 
      Coating & Staking (Polymerics Inspection)
    • IPC-620 w/ Space Addendum
    • IPC J-STD-001 w/Space Addendum
  • Attention to detail and ability to manage conflict to follow issues through to conclusion
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) and the ability to work with a team to strict deadlines
  • Minimum experience in quality control during manufacturing and testing of high reliability products (space experience strongly advantageous) based on education level:
    • Minimum 10 years’ experience with no degree
    • Minimum 8 years’ experience with associate degree
    • Minimum 3 years’ experience with B.S. degree (preferably engineering)
  • Familiarity with quality standards (ISO, ASME, MIL, NAS, etc)
