Job Description

  • Responsible for design and operation of equipment to optimize chemical / biologic processes, including troubleshooting, deviation investigations, EHS enhancements, ensuring compliance with regulatory and internal and external standards, driving digital transformation and implementing latest technology advancements.
  • End-to-end project management from initiation through to GMP readiness release, which cover project chartering, designing, budgeting, scheduling, procurement, change plan authoring, site supervision, commissioning, supporting qualification, internal and external stakeholder management. Ensuring delivery against safety, quality and engineering compliance/standards and driving project team to achieve project goals
  • Lead, analyze and evaluate new processes to determine requirements and feasibility of introduction of these processes into the existing facility
  • Responsible for site CAPEX projects long term plan and management and reporting

Manufacturing/Operation Support

  • Review and lead improvement efforts leading to higher process capability and production volume while maintaining and improving quality standards
  • Lead troubleshooting, deviation investigation, engineering modifications, identification and completion of corrective and preventative actions.
  • Lead modifications to equipment, processes and operations to improve safety, increase efficiency, production rates, efficiencies, yields, costs and enhance company goals.
  • Actively seek avenues to improve operational efficiency accruing benefits to the AbbVie businesses in Singapore
  • Participate and lead and own investigation record, when required, in all investigations (contaminations, deviations, and discrepancies) relating to the manufacturing process of API and biologics products to ensure successful and uninterrupted operations
  • Lead the development of systems that ensure the process works at the optimum level, to the right rate and quality of output, in order to meet supply needs
  • Provide operational support for the successful and uninterrupted operation of manufacturing systems used in manufacture of API and biologic products.
  • Evaluate work processes and propose optimization and improvement which can involve digitization, digitalization, artificial intelligence (AI) or automation solution.
  • Be up-to-date with latest technology or equipment design and upgrade existing equipment
  • Perform safety walkdowns to identify potential safety hazards, suggest improvements, recognize positive safety behaviors
  • Sets a positive team environment and amplifies the AbbVie Ways We Work behaviors
  • Compliance to all AbbVie policies, rules especially of safety and quality
  • Any other responsibilities or tasks assigned 

Project Management

  • Act as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for design, operation, control and optimization of chemical / biological processes
  • Lead an deliver end-to-end management of complex projects or multiple projects concurrently and coordinate project interdependencies for OPEX projects
  • Review engineering design documents and update to ensure they stay remain relevant
  • Lead and drive commissioning and qualification effort of the process equipment and associated systems.
  • Author and own a change mechanism record for engineering changes and coordinate with stakeholders throughout from initiation to closure.
  • Lead design, install and commission new production units, monitoring modifications and upgrades and troubleshooting existing processes. It includes project scheduling, project budgeting
  • Lead modifications and changes to processes and equipment, and other engineering disciplines, if required
  • Lead team in developing specifications for process equipment and assist in FAT / SAT of related equipment as part of the new build-outs.
  • Lead team to identify and assess plant fit bottlenecks to optimize production capacity

  • Demonstrates strong financial expertise in managing project budgets and analyzing return on investment (ROI).
  • Accountable for managing project costs to ensure delivery within the established budget.
  • Develop long-range plans (LRP) for site capital projects, ensuring funds are available on time for project initiation, acting as the custodian of LRP funds, and overseeing timely capitalization of assets.

  • Lead an deliver end-to-end management of complex projects or multiple projects concurrently and coordinate project interdependencies for OPEX projects
  • Site representative for global COE (Community Of Excellence)
  • Team coordinator and fronting external and internal auditors and support audit as technical SME

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of pharmaceutical regulatory requirements (GMP) is essential.
  • Strong technical knowledge coupled with hands-on working experience in a pharmaceutical / biotechnology facility
  • Working experience in start-ups, commissioning & qualification of process systems in an operating plant is a plus
  • Excellent attitude towards work and Willingness to learn required.
  • Ability to work with teams including external contractors
  • Excellent team player willing to work for the common goal
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Working experience and knowledge on equipment design, commissioning and qualification of start-ups and brownfield project experience is a plus.
  • Is results driven striving to meet all targets and metrics as set by department/site and company leaders.
  • Comfortable to work under pressure and demonstrate full ownership of tasks assigned
  • At least 12 years of relevant work experience
