Thomson Reuters is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer/Linux Administrator.



About The Role:
In this opportunity as a Senior Systems Engineer/Linux Administrator, you will:

  • Provide skilled technical support/delivery capability, with minimal supervision, for the current and future design, testing, delivery, support, and maintenance of production services in the technical operations environment.
  • Provide technical and procedural consistency within a team focused on the implementation, service delivery and support of products, systems & networks.
  • Contribute to initiatives for driving down incident rates and working with first line operations (and operations engineers within specialist functional teams, working with 2nd line operations) to improve service recovery times.
  • Adhere to the implementation process to ensure that all aspects of operability are delivered whilst ensuring that existing service levels are maintained or improved.
  • Contribute to defining operational standards, procedures, and best practice.
  • Assure adhere to compliance standards.
  • Work in close liaison with various operational, project, development and product teams as well working within the Service Organization to ensure ongoing service delivery and support can be maintained to agreed service levels.


About You:

You're a fit for the role of Senior Systems Engineer/Linux Administrator if your background includes:

  • Bachelors Degree in Related Field or equivalent experience.
  • 6+ Years of Relevant Experience as a Senior System Engineer - L2 Support
  • Experience with remote management of Linux systems located in various datacenters across the world.
  • Experience with Linux systems administration.
  • Experience with recovering incidents, implementing changes, participate in strategic projects.
  • Experience with system upgrades such as firmware, OS, application, and security patch evaluation and deployment.
  • Experience with working on multiple projects involving data center consolidation/migration/optimization/consolidation.
  • Experience with coordination with hardware vendors for hardware related issues Providing support and assisting other groups in problem resolution.
  • Extensive Linux systems administration experience Working knowledge involving volumes from SAN and NAS, clear understanding of CIFS and NFS protocols.
  • Experience with high availability and disaster recovery solutions and tools, including clustering, load balancing, etc.
  • Hands on experience in resolving system performance issues, root cause analysis and complex problems.
  • Must have worked in an ITIL compliant environment, worked with change control, incident mitigation, knowledge and problem management processes.
  • Must have Analytical, organization skills and ability to handle multiple tasks under tight deadlines.
  • Must be detail-oriented, have strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, strong communication and documentation skills.
  • Python scripting experience is preferred, but not required.
  • Ability to work standard hours of 10:30 am to 6:30 pm CT. and 1 or 2 weekends per month.
