Job Purpose

The Chemistry Lab Technician would perform experiments, prepare samples, operate lab equipment, and analyze and record data to support production. Key duties include collaborating with production and testing team, testing materials as they are generated and adhering to safety protocols.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Conducting Tests and Experiments: Performing a variety of chemical and physical tests and experiments using multiple techniques.
  • Data recording and reporting: Recording, analyzing, and interpreting experimental results, and preparing technical reports to communicate findings. 
  • Quality Control: Conducting quality control checks to ensure product standards and specifications are met. 
  • Safety and Compliance: Adhering to strict safety protocols, maintaining a safe work environment, and handling hazardous materials appropriately. 
  • Collaboration: Assisting chemist and engineers, collaborating with other team members, and providing technical support. 

 

COMPETENCIES:

  • Analytical Skills: The ability to analyze and interpret complex scientific data. 
  • Technical Proficiency: Experience with standard laboratory equipment, instruments, and various chemical analysis techniques. 
  • Attention to Detail: A strong focus on accuracy in recording and analyzing data, and following procedures. 
  • Communication: The ability to write clear technical reports and communicate findings to colleagues. 
  • Teamwork: The capacity to work collaboratively with scientists and other technicians. 

 

 

Qualifications

  • Education and/or Experience: Two year associates degree in scientific field, or equivalent experience.
  • Language Skills: Ability to read, write, and understand English

General Job Requirements

  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time
  • Must be able to frequently bend; twist; reach; stoop; kneel or crouch.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds/23 kilos on a daily continuous basis. Anything heavier will be done with the assistance of a mechanical device or with the assistance of another employee.
  • Must be able to differentiate colors.
  • Risk of electrical shock.
  • This position is exposed to harmful materials such as lead/fiberglass products. Periodic blood tests are required to measure the level of lead. Precautions are taken by the company/employee to reduce the risk of exposure and help ensure everyones safety.
  • Employees are responsible for wearing the required Personal Protective Equipment in the proper manner at all times.
