The Innovation Agora is a special program held at CERAWeek that focuses on the great new wave of innovation and disruptive technology and its impact on the energy future. Participants and speakers are a group of remarkable leaders and innovators from technology and energy companies, start-ups, universities, investors, and governments. The Agora features a range of sessions and experiences designed to stimulate new thinking and to explore disruptive technologies, models of innovation, and investment strategies. Sessions are dynamic and highly interactive, including dialogue and conversations with technologists, executives, and thought leaders, as well as presentations by entrepreneurs and innovators.
Objective
The ideal candidate will have a background in event programming, production, and sponsorship coordination – and an interest in innovators and startups.
The role will require working collaboratively in a cross functional, matrix organization with professionals across the CERAWeek team, as well as a broad network of senior executives and industry leaders.
The candidate will need to be comfortable working in an agile, fast-paced and time driven environment.
Required Skills
- Preferred Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing and communications, or related field
- Ability to travel to CERAWeek in Houston, Texas for the dates of the event and several days before
- Preferred subject matter knowledge in energy, technology, and innovation
- Experience in event marketing with conceptual skills
- Ability to work in a highly demanding, but fun environment
- Possess strong client-facing communication skills (written and spoken), including presentation and skills
- Strong project management and organization skills, with the ability to multitask and organize time to meet deadlines
- Competency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
Responsibilities Include
- Collaborate with key stakeholders and advisors to program Agora Pods on topics across the spectrum of technology platforms and grand challenges
- Curate pod presenters – Partners, Startups, Academics etc., to create an interesting and dynamic Pod program across the arc of the week
- Create and maintain database of previous Pod presenters and new potential presenters
- Coordinate with Partners and other program team members to receive partner Pod nominations and process accordingly
- Work with CERAWeek team on speaker admin and onboarding for Pod presenters and Lyceum speakers
- Oversee execution of Pods while onsite – working with Agora team and extended onsite execution team and deploying onsite staff to individual Pods
- Report on the status of Pod program development, including presenters and speakers
- Collaborate with marketing team for pre-event and onsite promotion of Pods and Lyceum programs
