Access and Impact for Women Refugee Employment
DEI in the UK and Europe: Diversity Reboot Summit
Imagine yourself suddenly forced to leave your home because of circumstances beyond your control. After a harrowing journey, awaiting you at your destination are culture shock, suspicion from locals, and the very real possibility that finding work will be difficult. No one should have to experience this, yet refugee women in the UK live this reality daily. In this talk with Janice Lopatkin, MBE, learn more about the current status of women refugee employment in the UK, and how you can help.
Janice Lopatkin MBE
Janice has over 25 years’ experience working for a range of charities and social businesses, developing, and managing large scale projects. At World Jewish Relief Janice manages the Specialist Training and Employment Programme (STEP) in partnership with local charities and local government. STEP is an award winning programme and delivers the largest programme for refugee employment support in the UK. In 2021 with a group of refugee support organisations Janice set up the Refugee Employment Network (REN). REN's members are a combination of NGOs, Local authorities and employers. REN aims to ensure that every refugee in the UK can access appropriate, fulfilling, paid employment or self-employment. Janice was awarded an MBE for services to refugees in the June 2019 honours list.
