Tech in India: A Celebration
Times are changing, and there has never been a better time for women to break into tech. But as companies actively seek to balance their gender ratios, it’s important for women to find their niche. In this talk, Saumya Singh, educator, content creator, and software engineer at Red Hat, will elaborate how that is done, explaining more about open source, mobile dev, fellowships, and other opportunities to find your specialty and get your foot in the door as a woman in tech.

Bridget FinkeldeySaumya Singh is currently working as a Software Engineer at Red Hat. She dreamed of working at this leading open source MNC when she started her open source journey during her bachelors. She is also an Educator and tech Content Creator.
She has worked as a Teaching Assistant Intern at Coding Blocks for Android Development Course. She was awarded the 21 under 21 award by GirlScript Foundation in 2020. She is a GHCI scholar as well. She has been recognized as a finalist for the Red Hat Women In Open Source Academic Award globally based on her open source contributions, technical skills & leadership qualities. She has been winner & runner-up of 5+ hackathons including Smart India Hackathon 2019(India’s Biggest Hackathon that involves 2 Lakh+ students) and Delhi Police Hackathon.
She also served as Program Manager at Girlscript Foundation. She has served as Developer Advocate at AnitaB.org open source teams.
She graduated from NSUT West Campus as a class of 2021.
Saumya is a technophile, who loves exploring and working on new technology. In an International Challenge CWG by Google, Saumya was the winner from India.
In her efforts to help the community, she has mentored various programs such as Google Code In, Girlscript Summer Of Code, KWoC by IIT-Kharagpur, to name a few. She has also been Mentor of Android Development course at Intrepid Geeks.
She is a passionate developer who loves to code for the betterment of society.
