As the Director of Global Markets - Korea, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future growth of Expedia Group’s top market, Korea, and its iconic brand, Hotels.com, as the local leader in the Seoul office. Your mission is to develop winning strategies, create a solid playbook, and execute the plan to drive business success.
In this role, you will:
Strategic Vision and Execution:
Develop winning market strategies that balance local relevance and global scalability.
Define and lead key customer-centric initiatives, leveraging global capabilities to unlock market opportunities and growth.
Ensure the Korean market meets critical customer, supply, and financial KPIs for sustainable growth.
Execution through Effective Cross-Team Collaboration:
Define optimal capital allocation, considering marketing channels, pricing, and other levers, partnering with key stakeholders to ensure goals are met.
Work closely with partner groups within Expedia Group to align strategy, planning, and execution.
Drive market growth by focusing on capturing peak demand periods and ensuring supply and product readiness.
Local Competitiveness and Customer Experience:
Take ownership of financial performance, customer health, and site experience for the Korean market.
Develop and lead monthly and quarterly business reviews with key leadership across the organization.
Maintain a clear understanding of competitive pressures and opportunities in the Korean market.
Sustainable and Profitable Growth:
Lead critical capital levers to ensure long-term market competitiveness.
Continuously evaluate and refine our approach to stay ahead in the market.
Foster a culture of excellence within your team.
Experience and qualifications:
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, or Economics.
7+ years of experience operating or analyzing marketing channels.
Proven track record of successfully growing a large international company in the local Korean market, ideally in the online retail or travel space (OTA).
Leadership and Analytical Skills:
Experienced people leader who can successfully lead, engage, and develop high-performing teams, encouraging a growth mindset to navigate change effectively.
Strong analytical skills and exposure to research and analysis techniques.
Ability to leverage these analytical skills to extract and compare data from various sources and identify core business issues and opportunities.
Ability to approach complex business challenges with a data-driven mindset, drawing upon business insight even when information is incomplete.
Market Knowledge and Collaboration:
Deep understanding of the local travel market, translating these insights into executable market strategies and initiatives that drive growth.
Proficient in leading, influencing, and mobilizing multiple partners within a dynamic and change-oriented environment.
Strong stakeholder management skills: convey information clearly, mobilize towards a common goal, and foster collaboration and alignment across teams.
Attention to Detail and Presentation:
Proven attention to detail in dealing with complex projects and time-sensitive deliverables.
High level of presentation skills and experience with flexibility when dealing with different problems and senior leaders.
Ability to navigate organizational levers (systems, processes, departments, functions) effectively.
Language Skills:
Fluency in English and Korean.
