Skills and Competencies- 6+ years of professional software development experience, primarily building scalable RESTful APIs using C# and .NET Core
- Strong expertise in C#, object-oriented design, SOLID principles, and common design patterns applied in production systems
- Proven experience designing and implementing microservices architectures and scalable API solutions
- Hands-on experience with event-driven systems using Apache Kafka or similar message brokers
- Solid understanding of data structures, algorithms, and performance optimization techniques
- Proficiency in concurrency and asynchronous programming in C# (async/await, Task Parallel Library, thread safety)
- Curiosity about AI tools and their application within modern software development workflows
- Awareness of core AI concepts and interest in applying AI tools responsibly, with consideration for ethics and risk management
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field required; Master’s degree preferred
- Design, build, and maintain scalable, secure, and maintainable APIs and microservices using C# and .NET Core
- Propose and evaluate architectural solutions that balance performance, scalability, reliability, and cost
- Select and integrate appropriate data storage technologies (relational, NoSQL, search) based on access patterns and constraints
- Develop and support Kafka-based integrations for real-time, event-driven data pipelines
- Write clean, well-tested, production-ready code following object-oriented programming and engineering best practices
- Profile, troubleshoot, and optimize applications to meet latency, throughput, and reliability targets
- Implement authentication and authorization mechanisms using industry-standard approaches (OAuth2, OpenID Connect, JWT, API keys)
- Create and maintain unit, integration, and contract tests to ensure system quality and stability
- Contribute to continuous integration and continuous delivery pipelines for automated build and deployment
- Apply strong problem-solving skills to design efficient solutions using appropriate data structures and algorithms
- Evaluate and responsibly apply AI-assisted development tools to improve engineering productivity and quality
- Work with containerization and orchestration technologies, including Docker and Kubernetes
- Contribute to monitoring, logging, incident response, and operational troubleshooting
- Follow security, privacy, and compliance best practices throughout the software development lifecycle
- Collaborate closely with architects, product managers, and cross-functional teams
- Mentor junior and mid-level engineers through code reviews, design discussions, and knowledge sharing
- Participate in architectural reviews and technical decision-making forums
The Data Estate Engineering team designs, builds, and operates Moody’s Analytics’ next-generation data pipeline. The team’s mission is to deliver high-quality, timely data by leveraging modern, industry-standard technologies and working closely with teams across the business.
