Introduction to Team:

Our Corporate Functions are made up of teams that support Expedia Group, including our Global Finance Org, Traveler and Partner Service Platform, Legal Team, Strategy and Corporate Development Team, and People & Places Org.

The Internal Auditor supports the execution of operational, integrated and/or financial risk management, compliance, and audit projects under the guidance of senior auditors and managers. This role focuses on learning and applying audit methodologies, assisting in risk assessments, and contributing to recommendations that strengthen internal controls and compliance. The position also builds foundational knowledge of risks, controls, compliance, and audit procedures to support Expedia Group’s mission and objectives.

In this role, you will:

• Assist in planning and executing operational, integrated and/or financial audits and compliance reviews.
• Support risk assessment activities by gathering data and preparing preliminary analysis.
• Perform basic control testing under supervision and document results in electronic workpapers.
• Help prepare audit documentation, including process flowcharts, narratives, and risk/control matrices.
• Contribute to drafting audit observations and recommendations for review by senior auditors.
• Maintain accurate records of audit work and follow-up actions.
• Collaborate with team members to ensure timely completion of assigned tasks.
• Learn and apply frameworks such as IIA, ITGC, ISO, & COSO.
• Assist in preparing summary reports for management on audit results and risk-based assessments.
• Support development of mitigation strategies and remediation plans for audit findings.
• Participate in training and knowledge-sharing sessions to build operational audit expertise.

Experience and Qualifications:

• 0-2 years in internal audit, or financial, regulatory or operational risk/assurance consulting.
• Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent related professional experience
• Big 4 public accounting experience preferred, but not required
• Basic understanding of Accounting and finance concepts, processes and standards
• Understanding, developing, interpreting process models, flowcharts, narratives
• Operational business processes and best practices
• Data governance (e.g., frameworks, policies, third-party data risks, and data security and protection)
• Data privacy compliance including GDPR, CCPA and other regulations
• Big Data (e.g. data analysis and visualization tools, data engineering modeling, scripting language such as SQL or Python)
• Familiarity with audit tools or GRC systems is a plus
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Interest in pursuing certifications such as CPA/CA, CIA, CISA, or similar.
• Competencies i.e Growth mindset, attention to detail, collaboration ,adaptability ,curiosity.
