Job Description

  • Office based in Maidenhead (hybrid working model 3 days in office)

Job Overview

In this role you will provide leadership, oversight and be accountable for the generation of high-quality real-world evidence studies to optimise and enhance the product and/or therapeutic value propositions across the AbbVie portfolio. Strong cross-functional alignment with the Medical, Market Access (including HTA, Health Economists, Asset leads, Strategic Partnership Leads), Brand Teams, both within affiliate and Globally will be required to generate high quality evidence to demonstrate value for AbbVie medicines. The Medical and Outcomes Research Lead will proactively collaborate and engage with external parties (NHS and vendors) as well as representing AbbVie on all RWE related engagements.

Key Responsibilities 

  • Lead and oversee all research projects within the UK Affiliate Local Evidence Team
  • Manage and develop a team of Medical Outcomes and Research Managers/Specialists to generate real world data
  • Shape and optimize processes, policies, and methods for conducting effective real-world evidence (RWE) studies
  • Maintain and provide up-to-date expertise in RWE across AbbVie products and therapeutic areas; deliver training to stakeholders
  • Source, generate, interpret, and disseminate high-quality evidence to internal and external customers and support product submissions to external agencies (e.g., NICE, SMC)
  • Design and manage RWE and outcomes research studies from concept through approval to execution in collaboration with medical advisors and operations
  • Facilitate clear communication with cross-functional teams on study progress and challenges
  • Ensure research studies are delivered on time and within budget, in line with operational plans
  • Support alignment of study protocols from Global and European teams with UK affiliate needs and timelines
  • Foster strong relationships with Global/Europe teams, lead or contribute to regional outcomes research initiatives, and support publication and dissemination strategies for RWE findings

Qualifications

Experience Required 

  • Graduate qualification in Evidence Based Medicine, Real World Evidence, Outcomes Research, Epidemiology, Public Health, Medical or a life Science degree preferred or professional scientific background
  • Experience in pharmaceutical/biotechnological industry, in a scientific/medical or Market Access role with experience in RWE, Outcomes Research, Epidemiology
  • Knowledge of Good Clinical Practice (GCP), pharma industry standards, global & local Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
  • Solid understanding of clinical and statistical research methods; searching, collating, analyzing and interpreting data from various data sources to supplement clinical trial data sets
  • Working knowledge of primary data collection methodologies, such as prospective data registries or longitudinal cohort studies, patient and caregiver surveys or pragmatic clinical trialsExcellent medical knowledge in relevant therapeutic areas of AbbVie products
  • Experience of, and strong ability to work collaboratively across matrix functions
  • Line management experience preferred
