Python/DevOps Lead - Vice President - IST (Institutional Securities Technology)
Profile Description
We’re seeking someone to join our team as Vice President - lead position in the EST group. This is an exciting role for a self-starter who has a thirst for new challenges as well as new technologies.
IST (Institutional Securities Technology)
Institutional Securities Technology (IST) develops and oversees the overall technology strategy and bespoke technology solutions to drive and enable the institutional businesses and enterprise-wide functions. IST’s ‘clients’ include Fixed Income, Equities, Commodities, Investment Banking, Research, Prime Brokerage and Global Capital Markets.
ESTAR
Develops trading & Analytics platform for IST, structured OTC Trading, Market Making & risk platform
for IED
Equity Swaps Technology:
The EST department is responsible for the technology solutions required by the hugely successful global Equity Swaps business, supporting OTC Delta One Structured Products including Equity Swap Portfolio, Single Name and Index derivatives businesses.
A wide variety of technologies are in use, including UI, server side, a variety of relational database and document stores and several messaging solutions. High volumes and large datasets are the normal and systems are designed to be able to both process current volumes, but also scale horizontally.
With significantly increasing trading volumes and a healthy backlog of features, EST are looking to expand their global team to support a number of development programmes
Technical Specialist
This is a Vice President position within our Technical Specialist function, which is responsible for providing extensive subject matter expertise and reinforcing the ability of business and technology audit teams to appropriately assess risk and determine and execute coverage.

What you’ll do in the role:
This is a VP (Python / DevOps) lead position in the EST group. This is an exciting role for a self-starter who has a thirst for new challenges as well as new technologies.
Key responsibilities for this role include –
• Designing and implementing automated testing strategies for large, distributed server-side components focusing on stability, performance, and correctness of the applications.
• Implementing innovative strategies to stabilize and improve release cadence.
• Liaising with the global development team, stakeholders, and senior management to manage software release cycles.
This is a senior role, and the candidate should have previously demonstrated the leadership of a small or sizeable team of developers in addition to proficiency with hands-on development activities. The candidate should demonstrate a strong sense of ownership and responsibility for the delivery of initiatives / projects. The candidate should possess good analytical skills, strong software engineering skills, a logical approach to problem solving, be able to work in a fast-paced environment liaising with demanding stakeholders to understand complex requirements and be able to prioritize work under pressure with minimal supervision. A willingness to be flexible and to get involved with activities outside of the core role, such as an involvement in the global support rota, participation in the architecture documentation and review process etc. is important.

What you’ll bring to the role:
•At least 4 years’ relevant experience would generally be expected to find the skills required for this role including.
Primary Skills Required
• 3-5 years of experience in leading development initiatives / projects.
• In-depth hands on Python based automation tooling development scripting experience
* Familiarity with the Linux command line & shell scripting.
• Advanced SQL query language knowledge (Sybase ASE and/or DB2 is preferred)
• Agile development principle, methodologies, and DevOps adoption of CI/CD/CM and SRE principles
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong fundamentals of domain/event/message driven architecture
• Good problem solving and analytical skills with strong knowledge of Data Structures/Algorithms
Good To have Skills
• Hands-on Java server-side development experience.
