About the Team:

Serve as People Manager for our centralized team of Technical Writers (3-4 direct reports; 15-20 staff members). Own the continuous improvement of our technical content development operation - processes, practices, partnerships, and decisions governing the delivery of transformative customer learning experiences.

Responsibilities:

  • Direct and empower the team to deliver on-time, quality-correct product technical documentation in support of Medidata Experiences. These include: release notes, In-App online Help, self-service knowledge articles, API documentation, system messages and notifications.
  • Evolve Medidata's standard technical content model to reflect innovations in learning strategies, industry best practices, and integrated learning experiences for all external learner personas.
  • Partner with Medidata strategic leaders to design and bring-to-market impactful technical content solutions.
  • Support Voice-of-the-Learner initiatives that capture and action learner feedback.
  • Enable and grow team/talent skills to create business-aligned scope and impact opportunities for our technical writers.
  • Design and apply agentic technical content strategies to drive customer success and business growth.

Qualifications:

  • 7-10 years experience as a global Director, Technical Content Design (or related role) in a Life Sciences or Clinical Trial Operations organization – producing external end-user technical documentation and partnering with VP-level product leaders and highly-technical SMEs.
  • 7-10 years experience as a People Manager for a mid-sized, centralized team of technical writers (who work remote and onsite)
  • 10-15 years experience designing external end-user technical content for Life Sciences or Clinical Trial Operations learner personas.
  • Master's Degree in Technical Content Design or a related discipline or equivalent years of experience.
  • Proficient in technical content design, information mapping, human-centered design, Articulate Storyline, Confluence, Google Workspace (G Suite), Camtasia, Simplified English, Accessibility enablement, JIRA/agile practices, localization readiness best practices, and agentic technical content design.
  • PMP certification/PMO experience is a plus.
  • Advocacy for our global learners, including patients
  • Ability to lead cross-org teams in developing integrated technical content solutions
  • Development, enablement and empowerment of our talent
  • Learning-as-a-Service business acumen to position learning solutions as a driver of customer success and business growth
  • Demonstrated, exceptional communication, project management, and partnering competencies
  • Affinity for partnering at all levels of the organization to lead, support and influence targeted outcomes in varying dynamics
  • Creative approach to innovation and ideation that will differentiate our technical content experiences from competitors
  • Ability to work well, and enable others to work well, within challenging release or project timeframes in a fast-paced, software development environment

This role designation is hybrid (3 days/week onsite NY/NJ area) or remote.

As with all roles, Medidata sets ranges based on a number of factors including function, level, candidate expertise and experience, and geographic location.The salary range for positions that will be physically based in the NYC Metro Area is $135,000 to $180,000. The salary range for positions that will be physically based in the California Bay Area is $141,750 to $189,000. The salary range for positions that will be physically based in Texas or Ohio is $118,500 to $158,000. The salary range for positions that will be physically based in the Boston Area is $132,750 to $177,000. The salary range for positions that will be physically based in all other locations within the United States is $120,750 to $161,000.

Base pay is one part of the Total Rewards that Medidata provides to compensate and recognize employees for their work. Most sales positions are eligible for a commission on the terms of applicable plan documents, and many of Medidata's non-sales positions are eligible for annual bonuses.
