User Experience Designer III
Summary
You’ll lead the design of the end-to-end insurance experience across all Expedia Group brands and lines of business, giving travelers confidence when the unexpected happens.
This role is a great fit if you:
- Map journeys from first tap to claim resolution, using strong interaction and visual design craft plus systems thinking to create patterns and design systems that scale.
- Focus on understanding the real problem (not just a preferred solution), welcome critique, and use research, data, and AI-powered tools to keep raising the experience bar for our travelers and the team.
- Challenge the status quo when customer outcomes can be better, and collaborate closely with engineering to turn ambitious ideas into high-quality, resilient, and delightful shipped experiences.
In this role, you will:
- Lead end-to-end product design for the insurance experience across Expedia Group brands, from clarifying problems and mapping journeys through claim resolution to delivering high-fidelity flows, UI, and prototypes ready for build.
- Design intelligent, personalized insurance experiences by applying ML- and AI-first thinking to journeys, states, and content, safely integrating and operating AI/ML‑enabled solutions that improve outcomes for travelers and the business.
- Define and evolve visual and interaction systems (typography, layout, color, motion, components) that scale across brands, platforms, and breakpoints, creating reusable design patterns and systems.
- Grow our design system by contributing patterns, tokens, and documentation that improve quality, speed, and consistency for the broader team, ensuring solutions are fungible across multiple lines of business and product surfaces.
- Build expressive, high-fidelity prototypes that bring complex, future-state insurance experiences to life, including motion, transitions, and micro-interactions that clearly communicate behavior and edge cases.
- Apply strong interaction design, information architecture, accessibility, and inclusive design principles, collaborating closely with engineering and product to ship resilient, high-quality experiences that challenge the status quo when traveler outcomes can be improved.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Human Factors, Cognitive Science, or a related field; or equivalent practical experience in UX design.
- Several years of professional experience as a UX, Product, or Interaction Designer delivering user-centered digital products, with ownership of end-to-end design for features or workflows.
- Proven ability to independently drive UX design within a defined product area or customer journey, collaborating with product and engineering partners to ship experiences to production.
- Experience designing complex, multi-step customer journeys or multi-surface experiences (web, mobile web, native app) within a large-scale or multi-domain product ecosystem.
- Track record of influencing product roadmaps through UX insights, using experimentation, metric analysis, and research to drive iterative improvements and measure the impact of design.
- Strong skills in interaction design, information architecture, visual design, and prototyping using industry-standard design and prototyping tools, including creating detailed specifications that support implementation.
- Experience evolving and contributing to design systems, including working with reusable components, patterns, and tokens to drive consistency and quality.
- Proficiency with using AI tools and agents in day-to-day design workflows to drive efficiency and innovation across the end-to-end design process (from exploration and prototyping to content and design-to-code).
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience planning and executing user research or usability evaluation activities, and applying research and product data to refine designs within a product team environment.
- Demonstrated ability to work with technical partners on constraints, edge cases, and system behaviors, including designing for data-rich interfaces, recommendations, or personalization at scale.
- Experience designing AI-driven user experiences—such as intelligent suggestions, automation, or conversational interfaces—and safely integrating and operating AI/ML‑enabled UX solutions in real-world products.
