The Program:

At Medidata, interns will have the opportunity to accelerate their careers by working closely with experienced professionals and gain valuable, hands-on, full-time work experience. By being a part of our global organization, interns have the opportunity to work alongside our talented and committed professionals helping them to build a strong foundation for achieving their career goals. For 12 weeks, beginning May 18, 2026, interns will have an opportunity to gain a deep understanding of what it means to be a Medidatian. United around a single goal of empowering smarter treatments and healthier people. Medidatians work in a culture of curiosity, innovation and fun. You will be contributing to the line of business with sustainable and meaningful work.

Our Summer Internship program also includes instructor led training, guided mentorship, exposure to senior leadership and community service. In addition to individual and specific related responsibilities, each intern will participate in our Intern Innovation Lab. Assigned to cross-functional teams, interns will work closely to develop an innovative solution to a business problem currently facing Medidata. As they work diligently to present their final solutions to a panel of top Medidata leaders, we are confident that our interns will make a significant impact on our business.

About the Team:

The Social Impact and Engagement department led under the direction of the Chief Patient Officer will oversee all work and strategy related to patient, site, and employee engagement.  Social Impact is championing a new paradigm, empathetic technical solutions through insights and engagement. 
 

Responsibilities:

• Deploy the Medidata Insights Analyzer system to enterprise-level cloud infrastructure (AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure) to support organizational access.
• Implement proper security, access controls, and user authentication for a production environment.
• Design, build, and document APIs to enable integration with other internal Medidata systems.
• Refine system performance and stability to ensure fast and reliable real-world usage.
• Ensure the AI components are built on a flexible foundation that allows for future upgrades and technology swaps.
• Develop and deliver comprehensive documentation and provide team training for the production system handoff.
   

Qualifications:

Education: Currently a senior pursuing a Bachelor's degree or a student pursuing a Master's degree in a technical discipline.

Fields of Study: Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a closely related technical field.
 

Key Technical Skills & Experience:
 

• Proficiency in Python.
• Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure) and software packaging (e.g., Docker).
• Familiarity with database systems, specifically PostgreSQL.
• Experience with AI/LLM integration tools (e.g., LangChain, OpenAI, etc.) is highly preferred.
• Exposure to web application frameworks (e.g., Streamlit).

Qualities:

• Able to take initiative, work independently, and drive implementation details autonomously.
• Conscientious, goal-oriented, and able to systematically track the status of multi-part technical tasks.
• Proactive communication skills, with a willingness to ask for help before getting stuck on complex DevOps problems.
• Minimum years of experience you require overall: Relevant academic coursework and/or prior internship experience demonstrating skills in software development and system deployment.
   

The salary range posted below refers only to positions that will be physically based in New York. As with all roles, Medidata sets ranges based on a number of factors including function, level, candidate expertise and experience, and geographic location. Pay ranges for candidates in locations other than New York, may differ based on the local market data in that region. The base hourly pay range for this position is $32 an hour.
