The Senior Manager, Client Advisory is a senior, client-facing role responsible for owning and expanding advisory relationships across a portfolio of Tier 2 and Tier 3 Financial Institutions and FinTech clients. Working closely with Account Executives, this role shapes client priorities, leads opportunity development and ensures Visa’s consulting investments deliver measurable value for both clients and Visa.
This is a value leadership and commercial ownership role, not a reactive delivery position. The Senior Manager acts as the strategic lead for assigned accounts, translating client needs into integrated advisory programmes that combine strategy, data, innovation and implementation capabilities.
The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated, collaborative and commercially minded individual, with proven experience in consulting-led sales within Banking and Payments.
Key Responsibilities
Account Leadership & Client Advisory
· Act as the accountable strategic advisory lead for a defined portfolio of Tier 2 and Tier 3 Financial Institutions and FinTech clients.
· Maintain a deep, current understanding of each client’s business model, market context, competitive landscape and strategic priorities.
· Build trusted relationships with senior internal and client stakeholders (e.g. EGMs, GMs, Heads of and other key decision‑makers), using client and market insights to proactively shape advisory priorities and identify opportunities.
· Be visibly embedded with clients, building trusted senior relationships and ensuring insights inform opportunity identification and engagement decisions.
· Shape advisory priorities and guide client decision-making by articulating clear, data-driven points of view.
Commercial Ownership & Deal Shaping
· Work side-by-side with Account Executives to originate, shape and close VCA opportunities, bringing together strategy consulting, analytics and implementation capabilities.
· Own account-level commercial performance for VCA, including revenue, work mix and overall commercial health.
· Lead pricing discussions with discipline, ensuring value alignment, margin expectations and adherence to agreed commercial frameworks.
· Build compelling business and value cases that clearly articulate ROI for clients.
· Ensure client commercial arrangements comply with Visa’s financial, legal and risk frameworks, enabling compliant deal execution and revenue realisation.
Engagement Design & Oversight
· Define and oversee a programme of advisory work across the client portfolio, from discrete projects through to multi-phase engagements.
· Lead the development of proposals, working with VCA Practice teams to agree scope, approach, deliverables, roles and timelines.
· Provide active oversight across all engagements, holding delivery teams accountable for outcomes aligned to original objectives and agreed scope.
· Own delivery margin for cross-capability engagements led by Client Advisory.
· Balance client ambition with funding constraints, resourcing capacity and agreed commercial guardrails, making pragmatic trade-offs to maximise value for both the client and Visa. Develop compelling business and value cases that clearly articulate client ROI.
Delivery Excellence & Governance
· Oversee project mobilisation, including contracting inputs, stakeholder alignment, data requirements and governance structures.
· Support delivery teams by resolving issues, managing risks and ensuring high-quality, practical outputs.
· Design and deliver clear, compelling client presentations that translate insight into actionable recommendations, with selective support for implementation.
Broader Visa Contribution
· Identify opportunities to connect clients with other Visa capabilities, including product, marketing and client services.
· Contribute to practice development through insight sharing, thought leadership and participation in regional or global initiatives.
This is a hybrid position and can be based in either Sydney or Melbourne. Expectations around days in the office will be confirmed by your hiring manager.
Qualifications
Essential
· 8+ years’ experience in consulting, corporate strategy or advisory roles, with demonstrated delivery experience in Banking, Payments and/or FinTech.
· Demonstrated experience originating, shaping and closing complex, consultative sales engagements within Banking, Payments, technology or professional services environments.

· Strong commercial acumen, including pricing, margin awareness and development of value/ROI cases.
· Confident communicator with the ability to simplify complex problems and influence senior client stakeholders.

· Experience working with Tier 2 / Tier 3 Financial Institutions, digital banks or FinTechs.
· Exposure to payments strategy, portfolio optimisation, fraud/scams management, digital transformation or data-led initiatives.
