JOB SUMMARY: 

Assist with pilot plant trials, performing daily tasks such as equipment setup, operation, sanitation, troubleshooting, and cleaning according to safety standards and GMPs under limited supervision. Operate various processes and food processing equipment in the Pilot Plant, including Retorts, Aseptic Process, Aseptic Fillers, and related machinery.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • The Technician will be responsible for all aspects of the setup and operation of the Processing / Filling Line and its associated ancillary equipment. The Technician will also be responsible for the cleaning and sterilization of all equipment associated with the trial.
  • Ensure efficient operation of the manufacturing line by continuously monitoring output and identifying negative trends.
  • Assist multiple R&D Developers and Pilot Plant associates in the execution of daily assignments pertaining to NesTms trial request with limited supervision in the Pilot Plant. Could include but not limited to, on-floor data collection, weighing, blending, review and/or completion of production documentation (i.e. production records) in a timely fashion and with a high degree of accuracy in accordance with Nestlé and federal requirements.
  • Compliance:
    • Follow and uphold all Food Safety, Food Quality, Occupational Safety, Health and Environment policies as pertains to role.
    • Conduct routine tests during trials, collect and submit data. May be expected to submit samples to analytical for laboratory analysis.
    • Conduct routine packaging tests and inspections on Pilot Plant floor using package integrity equipment (peel, burst, leak, headspace O2, etc.).

 

JOB QUALIFICATIONS (Education, Experience and Knowledge):          

  • High School Diploma or GED and 5 years’ experience with demonstrated technical proficiency for operation and maintenance of equipment within the food industry
  • Associates degree and 1 year experience within the industry or advanced technical / vocational training preferred
  • Demonstrated technical aptitude
  • Ability to collaborate across multiple teams
  • Basic organizational skills
  • Industry safety standards and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP's)  
  • PC experience with Microsoft, Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Mechanical skills required to operate equipment             
  • Chemical handling knowledge for sanitation and cleaning
  • Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills with multiple levels
  • In process troubleshooting
