The Senior Vice President, Data Platform Lead is a senior leadership role within Prime Services Technology, responsible for managing and directing the data platform, data governance, and overall data strategy for the Prime Services Data team. This position requires a comprehensive understanding of multiple areas within Prime Services Technology and how they interact to achieve the objectives of the function.

Prime Services Technology provides business solutions to Prime Brokerage, Equity Finance, Delta One, Futures Execution and Clearing, and OTC Clearing businesses. The Data Platform Lead will be responsible for data sourcing, distribution, and data governance within Prime Services and working with other Markets teams that need data from Prime. This hands-on leader will manage a team of data analysts, project managers, business analysts, and developers, providing strategic direction while maintaining deep technical expertise.

The ideal candidate will have experience in the data domain with a strong background in how enterprise data is managed and governed, combined with comprehensive business knowledge of financial data. This role requires applying in-depth understanding of the business impact of technical contributions, with strong commercial awareness being a necessity. Excellent communication skills are required to negotiate internally, often at a senior level, and to drive communication between business leaders and technology teams across Markets Technology and ICG Technology Enterprise Architecture groups to ensure solutions are in line with the firm's strategic direction and compliant with risk & controls standards.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Team Management

• Manage and lead a diverse team of data analysts, project managers, business analysts, and developers for the data platform
• Provide strategic direction, mentorship, and professional development opportunities for team members
• Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement
• Oversee resource allocation, capacity planning, and team performance management
• Create accountability and maintain high standards of performance across the team
• Coach and develop future leaders within the organization

Communication & Stakeholder Management

• Exhibit high-level communication skills, influence management, and excellent presentation ability to work effectively with executive teams
• Drive communication between business leaders and IT; exhibit sound and comprehensive communication and diplomacy skills to exchange complex information
• Negotiate internally at senior levels across Markets Technology and with external stakeholders as necessary
• Lead projects with multiple counterparts across organizations
• Facilitate discussions and conduct group meetings under pressure
• Present complex technical concepts to diverse audiences including senior executives

Data Governance & Management

• Oversee data sourcing, distribution, and data governance within Prime Services
• Create and maintain formal enterprise information management requirements that include business architecture models, conceptual and logical data models, data flows, enterprise data standards, adoption strategies, and data remediation recommendations
• Ensure robust data governance frameworks are in place and adhered to across the organization
• Drive compliance with enterprise data standards and regulatory requirements
• Oversee metadata management and data lineage documentation
• Establish and monitor data quality rules, validation frameworks, and remediation processes
• Work closely with Markets Technology and ICG Technology Enterprise Architecture groups to ensure solutions are in line with firm's strategic direction and compliant with risk & controls standards

Business Partnership & Requirements Management

• Create detailed business requirements documents reflecting the data needs of key business and technology initiatives at Citi
• Work closely with key business SMEs and Quantitative Analysts to develop an in-depth understanding of their critical data needs and business impact of existing data quality and data integrity issues on a detailed level
• Recognize patterns of data needs across multiple business requirements and determine how to address these requirements using an effective and efficient business data architecture
• Consult with business clients across Prime Brokerage, Equity Finance, Delta One, Futures Execution and Clearing, and OTC Clearing to identify strategic data requirements
• Translate complex business requirements into technical specifications and actionable data solutions
• Partner with other Markets teams that need data from Prime Services to ensure seamless data sharing and collaboration
• Guide the implementation of data visualization tools and platforms for data analytics and reporting
• Work closely with key technology SMEs across Prime Services Technology to address business architecture requirements
• Ensure the platform supports advanced analytics and basic ML model usage

Required Qualifications

Experience

• 12+ years of experience in data management, data architecture, or related fields within Banking or Financial Services
• Proven track record of managing and leading diverse technical teams including data analysts, developers, project managers, and business analysts
• Extensive experience in enterprise data management, data governance, and data platform development
• Deep business knowledge of financial data, particularly in Markets business. Prime Services brokerage background preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to lead large-scale, complex data initiatives across multiple organizations
• Experience working at senior levels with executive stakeholders and business leaders

Technical Skills

• Data Platform Architecture: In-depth experience building data lakes, data warehouses, and data mesh/fabric architectures on-premises and on public cloud
• Data Integration: Extensive knowledge of various data ingestion and distribution frameworks (enterprise & opensource)
• Programming & Scripting: Hands-on experience using scripting languages such as Python or Scala to build data pipelines
• Distributed Systems: Experience with distributed messaging systems such as Kafka and distributed caching services such as Gemfire/Redis
• Data Visualization: Experience implementing data visualization tools and platforms for data analytics and reporting
• Database Technologies: Proficient in SQL and various database management systems
• Machine Learning: Understanding of basic ML models and their usage in data platforms
• Cloud Platforms: Experience with major cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) for data solutions
• Data Modeling: Strong understanding of conceptual, logical, and physical data modeling
• Data Quality: Deep expertise in data quality frameworks, validation techniques, and remediation strategies

Communication & Interpersonal Skills

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to present to executive audiences
• Strong influence management and negotiation skills
• Demonstrated facility to interact and work effectively with diverse teams across organizations
• High-level presentation ability and executive presence
• Ability to work under pressure, facilitate discussions, and conduct group meetings
• Strong diplomacy skills required to exchange complex information across business and technology stakeholders

Education

• Bachelor's/University degree or equivalent experience, preferably in Computer Science, Information Systems, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, or related quantitative field
• Master's degree or advanced certifications in Data Management, Enterprise Architecture, or related fields preferred

This is a hybrid role which means candidate will need to work from the office at least 3 days a week.
