Principal Mixed Methods Researcher

We’re seeking a strategic, hands-on researcher to uncover deep insights about travelers and shape brand experiences across our global portfolio. In this role, you’ll lead programmatic research that informs brand positioning, messaging, and experience design for key user segments. You’ll partner with designers, analysts, product managers, and marketers to connect attitudes, behaviors, and motivations into actionable strategies that inspire innovation.

In this role you will:

Strategic Leadership
  • Define and drive the research strategy for brand insights, influencing decisions across multiple brands and platforms.

  • Advocate for research-driven decision-making with senior stakeholders and cross-functional teams.

  • Represent the Research organization internally and externally, contributing thought leadership to the industry.

Execution & Innovation
  • Design and lead mixed-methods research programs that integrate qualitative and quantitative approaches.

  • Connect attitudinal and behavioral data to uncover deep customer needs and inform brand positioning.

  • Incorporate insights from internal and industry research to support product development and brand strategy.

Mentorship & Evangelism
  • Mentor researchers on advanced methodologies and best practices.

  • Develop and promote frameworks that help teams understand user segments, behaviors, and pain points.

  • Use storytelling and persuasion to translate insights into compelling narratives that drive action.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master’s or PhD in Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Human Factors, Psychology, or equivalent professional experience.

  • Skilled in a range of research methodologies including survey design, user interviews, persona development, ethnography, hypothesis testing, and key driver analysis.

  • Strong foundation in statistics and comfort using tools like R, Python, or SQL for data analysis.

  • Demonstrated ability to synthesize insights across multiple methodologies and communicate complex findings to senior stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with brand tracking methodologies.

  • Experience with market segmentation and modeling.

  • Experience coordinating international vendor relationships.

  • Ability to influence strategy by synthesizing insights from various disciplines.

  • Exceptional skill in communicating complex findings in simple, compelling ways to drive decisions.

The total cash range for this position in Austin is $224,000.00 to $313,500.00. Employees in this role have the potential to increase their pay up to $358,500.00, which is the top of the range, based on ongoing, demonstrated, and sustained performance in the role.

The total cash range for this position in New York is $242,000.00 to $338,500.00. Employees in this role have the potential to increase their pay up to $387,000.00, which is the top of the range, based on ongoing, demonstrated, and sustained performance in the role. The total cash range for this position in Seattle is $224,000.00 to $313,500.00. Employees in this role have the potential to increase their pay up to $358,500.00, which is the top of the range, based on ongoing, demonstrated, and sustained performance in the role.

Starting pay for this role will vary based on multiple factors, including location, available budget, and an individual’s knowledge, skills, and experience. Pay ranges may be modified in the future.
