Are you looking to be part of a world-class enterprise design team dedicated to crafting incredible user experiences? Would you like to drive impactful work that helps millions of people see and enjoy more of the world? Are you passionate about solving hard problems and creating order out of uncertainty?
At Expedia Group, our mission is to power global travel for everyone, everywhere. Key to this mission, our Experience Design (XD) organisation is a global, cross-disciplinary team that unites user experience design, content design, and research to enable innovative, relevant, and cohesive experiences that serve the needs of all our travelers, partners, and agents.
We’re looking for a motivated UX Designer to join our Shopping XD team, where you’ll play a pivotal role in crafting delightful customer experiences. You’ll work across a broad domain, collaborating closely with product owners, designers, researchers, and engineers to develop thoughtful design solutions. Your work will reflect an inclusive, human-centered approach, and you’ll contribute in a dynamic, global environment that spans multiple brands, devices, and platforms.
The Shopping team is dedicated to helping travelers discover and book the perfect elements of their trip—whether it’s lodging, flights, a car, or a cruise. Our goal is to understand the unique needs of each traveler and deliver personalised experiences that inspire and simplify their journey.
As a member of XD, you'll advocate for human-centered product strategy and design. And while no two days here are identical, your main responsibilities will look something like this:
Strategy & Planning:
You will contribute a variety of design solution proposals, clearly articulating how those solutions meet user needs, satisfy business goals, and adhere to technical constraints.
You will influence the development of the design roadmap, supporting forward-thinking design work and assisting with the sizing and prioritisation of items on the roadmap.
You will collaborate closely with Product Managers to uncover opportunities that enhance XD’s business impact by observing market trends and reviewing customer feedback.
Ideation and Visualisation:
You will demonstrate mastery of common visual and interaction design principles and practice, and create appropriate sketches, wireframes, flows, design comps, and prototypes with minimal guidance.
You will design and articulate comprehensive end-to-end user flows and define connections between products and functions to enhance the overall user experience and usability.
You will ensure your design solutions are compatible with accessibility technologies (e.g., alt text, captions, screen readers) and include detailed accessibility annotations in polished designs.
You will quickly generate low- and high-fidelity designs to describe and clarify complex design challenges or solutions.
Systems Thinking:
You will actively contribute to design system growth based on use cases.
You will make decisions that clarify relationships between patterns and support future flexibility.
You will identify gaps in the design system and propose new components, processes, or solutions where necessary.
You will consider the broader system of experience touchpoints, accounting for the impacts and constraints of different methodologies and approaches.
Communication and Presentation:
You will consistently create clear and compelling materials and narratives explaining design rationale to team and stakeholders using customer, business, or competitive insights.
You will actively seek diverse feedback on design work and anticipate feedback to address it proactively.
You will develop tailored narratives for respective audiences and communicate through the appropriate channels to facilitate inclusive and effective decision-making.
You will provide thoughtful and constructive feedback to XD coworkers and cross-functional peers, while conscientiously implementing feedback you receive.
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, with 5-8 years of experience in interaction design, visual design, and prototyping.
Strong expertise in facilitation, information architecture, and a solid understanding of technical platforms and their constraints.
Demonstrated experience in creating user-centered designs across multiple devices and platforms, including native mobile apps.
Skilled in conducting user research, usability testing, and competitor audits to inform design decisions.
Experience working with and contributing to design systems to ensure consistency and scalability.
Familiarity with accessibility standards and a commitment to inclusive design practices.
Adept at collaborating with cross-functional teams, including product managers and developers, to translate user needs into practical, high-quality design solutions.
A portfolio that demonstrates your ability to create thoughtful, innovative, and user-centered designs.
