Job Description

The External Manufacturing Conjugation & Aseptic Fill Controller provides financial leadership, business expertise, and guidance to functional leaders. This role encompasses a full range of controllership responsibilities, including financial record keeping, reporting, profit planning, systems operations, inventory management, and financial analysis for the Aseptic Filling and Conjugation External Manufacturing group. The position seeks cost opportunities and supports achieving optimum financial performance. Additionally, it ensures financial activities align with Division and Corporate standards and comply with GAAP, local Federal, and State regulations. Part of AbbVie's Operations Finance group, this role oversees direct and indirect reports and manages a budget of $0.5 billion. Strong analytical, communication, presentation, and leadership skills are essential.

Responsibilities

  • Provide oversight and direction during the monthly closing, Plan, Latest Best Estimate (LBE), and Long-Range Plan (LRP) cycles, including capital expense and headcount reporting for Aseptic Filling and Conjugation products in External Manufacturing, ensuring compliance with division and corporate deadlines.
  • Lead the annual standards-setting process for Aseptic Filling and Conjugation products in External Manufacturing, collaborating with ME&C Finance, Supply Chain, Procurement, and Operations.
  • Manage the standard costing and system setup for New Product Indications (NPIs) in Aseptic Filling and Conjugation External Manufacturing.
  • Interface with personnel from Switzerland, VLOG, External Manufacturing, Puerto Rico, Lake County, and Waltham to meet all financial reporting requirements. Provide analysis to assist senior management in addressing variances and corrective actions.
  • Ensure timely and accurate preparation of monthly reports, quarterly schedules, and year-end financial packages for Aseptic Filling and Conjugation External Manufacturing, adhering to corporate and division deadlines.
  • Deliver financial analysis and scenario planning to support Aseptic Filling and Conjugation CoE and External Manufacturing decision-making, including make vs. buy analysis and internalization initiatives.
  • Monitor and identify opportunities to optimize Gross Margins, presenting recommendations to improve profitability and the operational business model.
  • Ensure compliance with AbbVie Corporate Financial Manual (CFM) and GAAP, maintaining adequate financial systems and controls while ensuring audit compliance and integrity of general ledger accounts.
  • Lead strategic product launches and initiatives to drive efficiency and process improvements. Evaluate and recommend capital projects, approving RCEs as per policy.

Provide analysis for ad hoc business presentations to offer insights into key business drivers, supporting management in meeting financial objectives.


Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA and/or MBA desirable.
  • 8+ years of relevant finance experience, with required experience in cost accounting.
  • 4+ years of supervisory experience.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a constantly changing and challenging environment.
  • Strategic and critical thinking skills, with the ability to challenge conventional thinking.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Comfortable presenting to large audiences and all levels of management.
  • Must be able to travel 25% of the time.
  • Broad business perspective, capable of providing financial and non-financial advice and alternatives.
  • Experience with SAP, BPC, advanced Excel, data analysis tools, PowerPoint, and other BI or Power Query tools.
