Job Details

The Project Management Office within the Professional Services department is responsible for delivering a positive and efficient experience during complex technical projects and implementations for external clients across the tax and legal industries across a variety of practices for Thomson Reuters. This includes managing the projects’ planning, design, progress, and closure, holding project staff accountable for delivering results, as well as serving as the primary point of contact for both external firms and internal teams.

Typical projects may include the entire lifecycle from requirements through to deployment and implementation or specific parts of the lifecycle of a larger project and typically involves extensive interaction with sales, systems engineering, product development and other members of cross-functional teams. The Client Project Manager is expected to display core competencies such as Project Delivery, Financial Management, Risk Management, Estimating and Planning, and Communication. Expected expertise at this job level is proficiency with key functions, activities, and analysis within each area.

This role is expected to be a hybrid working arrangement 3 days per week in our local offices for preferred applicants in the following areas: Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex, TX, Eagan, MN, or Ann Arbor, MI.

About the Role

In this opportunity as Client Project Manager, you will 

  • Communicate effectively with clients to understand their needs and expectations and ensure client satisfaction, tailoring the appropriate mode of communication to each project, client, stakeholder or other needs.
  • Embrace Thomson Reuters’ on-camera culture by ensuring professional on-camera presence and engagement during meetings.
  • Define the scope, goals, and deliverables of the project in collaboration with senior management and stakeholders.
  • Responsible for leading multiple projects simultaneously, balancing competing priorities, working through resource constraints, and managing realistic expectations for customers and stakeholders.
  • Plan and manage project timelines, milestones, and deliverables using appropriate tools and techniques.
  • Coordinate and lead cross-functional teams, including sales, systems engineering, product development, and other departments, to ensure project success.
  • Monitor and report on project progress, as well as handle any necessary adjustments to project constraints.
  • Manage project budgets and financial objectives, ensuring that the project is delivered within the approved budget.
  • Identify, assess, and minimize project risks throughout the project lifecycle by working with customer and stakeholder groups.
  • Facilitate problem-solving and decision-making processes to resolve project issues.
  • Ensure that all project documentation is complete, current, and stored appropriately.
  • Ensure that all systems and platforms for tracking and reporting on project KPIs are met, updated timely, and reflect the latest key information for senior leadership to make financial decisions.
  • Adhere to industry best practices, techniques, and standards throughout the entire project execution.
  • Establish and help maintain customer long term relationships.
  • Ensure the client success and optimum utilization of products and solutions.
  • Provide coaching and guidance to project team members to achieve project goals and develop their skills.

About You

You're a fit for the role of Client Project Manager, if you have: 

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience (project management certification(s) preferred). 
  • 5+ years of direct project management experience.
  • Familiarity with project management tools and best practices, including Agile and Scrum. 
  • 2+ years of experience working with Tax, Legal, or other technical software implementations and migrations.
  • Superior interpersonal and written communications skills. This includes the ability to effectively communicate and build strong relationships with various roles within an end user firm (IT, staff, managing partners, etc.), as well as with various internal departments outside of Professional Services (Sales, Development, Operations, Support, etc.). 
  • Successful track record of seeing projects through the full life cycle that are completed according to outlined scope and timeline. 
  • Strong emotional intelligence and adaptability in communication and project management strategies.
  • Proven ability to build rapport with stakeholders and adjust approach based on individual needs and priorities, tailoring communication and engagement methods to effectively collaborate with diverse individuals and groups.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to understand and respond effectively to diverse communication styles. This includes the ability to effectively communicate and build strong relationships with various roles within an end user firm (IT, staff, managing partners, etc.), as well as with various internal departments outside of Professional Services (Sales, Development, Operations, Support, etc.). 
  •  Customer-centric approach with a keen understanding of individual client needs, able to solve problems creatively and flexibly.
  • Experience working with virtual / remote teams across US time zones.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and project management tools (Microsoft Project or other tools i.e., Smartsheet, Monday.com).

The base compensation range varies across locations. For any eligible US locations, unless otherwise noted, the base compensation range for this role is $74,200 USD - $137,800 USD. Base pay is one part of a comprehensive Total Reward program which also includes flexible and supportive benefits and other wellbeing programs. This role may also be eligible for an Annual Bonus based on a combination of enterprise and individual performance.
