The Firm Strategy and Execution (“FSE”) group is part of the Company Management Division of Morgan Stanley; the group is responsible for providing M&A advice and transaction execution, driving thought leadership, and executing the Firm’s strategic priorities across the Firm. As part of this mandate, FSE plays a key role in the execution of M&A transactions often pivotal to the Firm’s long-term success (e.g., acquisitions of Smith Barney, E*TRADE, Eaton Vance, Solium, Mesa West Capital, among other deals). In addition, FSE drives several strategic growth initiatives (e.g., new market / product entry) to support business expansion both domestically and internationally.
FSE offers the opportunity to join a team that is at the center of shaping the Firm’s strategy and work on a broad spectrum of strategic projects that are critical priorities for the Firm’s Chief Executive Officer, Board of Directors, and Operating Committee.
Primary Responsibilities Include:
- Assessing market trends, competitive landscapes and internal competencies across the Firms businesses
- Analyzing growth opportunities across all divisions
- Manage the firms acquisitions and divestitures, including assessing strategic fit in the context of the broader Firm strategy, conducting valuation / pro-forma analyses, coordinating due diligence processes, and partaking in integration efforts
-Evaluating business implications of and responses to regulatory changes
Improving operational efficiency and effectiveness
Qualifications
-Ideal candidate will have 4-6 years of experience at a leading investment bank or a top-tier strategy consulting firm, although candidates with commensurate experience and skill sets will be also considered
-Strong problem-solving skills with demonstrated intellectual and analytical rigor
-Ability to structure and manage complex cross-divisional projects and processes with multiple stakeholders at both senior and junior levels
-Ability to clearly communicate compelling messages to be able to influence across the organization and externally
-Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
-Inclusive leadership skills with a team-oriented and collaborative approach to work
Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $175,000 and $225,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
