Position Overview

Are you a seasoned designer eager to join a dynamic team transforming how buildings are designed, built and operated? 50% of operational carbon emissions come from buildings, and 30% of energy is wasted due to poor design and operating decisions. At Autodesk Tandem, our digital twin platform, we’re on a mission to make the world better by empowering building operators with their data.  

This is a unique position to join a fast-moving team within Autodesk building out a new market segment. We are seeking a Principal Designer with strong SaaS and data visualization experience who is passionate about building great products. Reporting to the Manager & Experience Architect for our Tandem, you will work on designing features and workflows to support digital twin builders and building operators for the Tandem Digital Twin platform such as designing dashboards, viewer experience and user management.

To be successful, you should be comfortable working through ambiguity and collaborating with a globally distributed team of product managers, engineers, marketers, and customer success managers. This role requires a diverse skill set including conceptual UX, systems thinking, prototyping, visual design, and user research. 

Preference for candidates located in the Bay Area, Denver, Montreal or Toronto to work hybrid/remote. May consider other US and Canada locations. This is a global team which will require flexible working hours.

Responsibilities 

• Define, design, and build great experiences for exploring and understanding building data within the spatial context of 3D models, from initial concept through successful implementation

• Participate in customer engagements to validate assumptions and concepts, gather input on proposed workflows, and refine the product design

• Collaborate closely with engineering teams and product managers to create effective visual and interaction designs that deliver customer value, while navigating technical constraints and balancing quality vs. speed of delivery

• Produce design artifacts to drive alignment across teams, including product development, customer programs, sales, and marketing

• Gather and utilize customer usage, adoption metrics, and other analytics data to inform design decisions

Minimum Qualifications 

• 7+ years of professional UX/UI design experience working with cross-functional agile teams 

• Excellent interaction, information architecture, and visual design skills. You have no problem visualizing solutions with wireframes, visual designs, journey maps, and prototypes

• Strong presentation and communication skills. You can effectively present work to everyone from customers, to teammates, and executives and understand how to tailor communication style and content based on the audience 

• Desire to work autonomously, own projects from end to end, and collaborate with globally distributed agile teams in a fast-moving environment

• Experience with modern human-centered design best practices and customer interaction methods, and highly skilled in facilitation and design thinking 

• Expert in design and prototyping tools like Figma, Framer, Sketch, or similar

• Systems thinker that can make connections between disparate product experiences 

• Online design portfolio that demonstrates how you solve complex design challenges 

Preferred Qualifications 

• Experience with 3D products like game design or architectural software 

• Experience designing for data-rich or complex products and interactions such as CRM, dashboards, or healthcare 

• Experience defining and building design systems

Responsabilités

• Définir, concevoir et créer des expériences exceptionnelles pour explorer et comprendre les données de construction dans le contexte spatial des modèles 3D, de la conception initiale à la mise en œuvre réussie

• Participer aux interactions avec les clients afin de valider les hypothèses et les concepts, recueillir des commentaires sur les flux de travail proposés et affiner la conception du produit

Qualifications minimales

• Plus de 7 ans d'expérience professionnelle en conception UX/UI au sein d'équipes agiles interfonctionnelles

• Excellentes compétences en matière d'interaction, d'architecture de l'information et de conception visuelle. Vous n'avez aucun problème à visualiser des solutions à l'aide de wireframes, de conceptions visuelles, de cartes de parcours et de prototypes

• Solides compétences en matière de présentation et de communication. Vous êtes capable de présenter efficacement votre travail à tous, des clients aux collègues en passant par les dirigeants, et vous savez adapter votre style de communication et votre contenu en fonction de votre public

• Envie de travailler de manière autonome, de mener à bien des projets de bout en bout et de collaborer avec des équipes agiles réparties dans le monde entier dans un environnement en constante évolution

Salary is one part of Autodesk’s competitive compensation package. For U.S.-based roles, we expect a starting base salary between $133,300 and $215,600. Offers are based on the candidate’s experience and geographic location, and may exceed this range. In addition to base salaries, our compensation package may include annual cash bonuses, commissions for sales roles, stock grants, and a comprehensive benefits package.
