What you will do:
As our Lead Contract Specialist, you will work in a cross-functional team environment to support the contracting process for your assigned business and/or geographic region, including drafting, redline review, negotiation, issue spotting and resolution, and follow-through to contract execution and retention. You will partner closely with team leadership and legal counsel to support contracting opportunities. Under supervision by Director of Commercial Contracting Counsel, and in partnership with Legal Counsel, you will work within the framework of sales, contracting, legal, finance, and sales operations strategies, legal and administrative regulations, and company policies and procedures to guide internal stakeholders through the decision-making process and contracting experience. You will also identify business and legal risks and propose creative solutions for risk mitigation, identify and escalate for legal review and resolution of legal issues related to contracts, and represent Stryker’s interests professionally and in a solutions-oriented manner to both our internal and external stakeholders and customers.
Draft, edit, review, and negotiate complex agreements with minimal supervision, in a manner that manages business and legal risk while effectively supporting our internal and external customers in a timely manner in a fast-paced environment;
Provide excellent, time-sensitive, solutions-oriented, strategic contracting support to internal and external stakeholders;
Exhibit solid negotiation skills, including comfort in negotiating contract terms with customers;
Build and maintain strong relationships with sales, finance, operations, and attorney stakeholders across the decentralized organization (as applicable);
Serve as a contracting and negotiating expert to other areas within the organization, as required;
Supervise and set direction for other Contract Specialists (if applicable).
Lead and mentor less-experienced contracting professionals, including provision of subject matter expertise on complex contracting issues;
Exercise excellent judgment in identifying and escalating issues to management and/or for legal review in a timely manner;
Maintains a comprehensive knowledge of Stryker’s product lines, competitive environment, and customers to better support functional initiatives and provide recommendations to internal stakeholders;
Monitor and track status of contract-related matters and proactively provide updates as requested;
Identify system or process improvements that increase efficiency, compliance, or reduce cost to the business;
Serve as a liaison between Stryker business units and Legal and foster two-way communication of evolving business needs, challenges, and opportunities.
What you’ll need
Required
A Bachelor’s Degree is required for this role, however in lieu of a degree, an additional 6 years of work experience will be considered.
4+ years of professional work experience
Preferred
3+ years of work experience working in healthcare contracts
4+ years of work experience with contracts
Paralegal certification
Experience working with the Uniform Commercial Code
Experience drafting and reviewing documentation
Experience with direct contract negotiations
Salesforce experience
$87,600 - 186,700 salary plus bonus eligible + benefits. Actual minimum and maximum may vary based on location. Individual pay is based on skills, experience, and other relevant factors.
